I have both an xbox 360 and PS3. I have broadband, but not Xbox Live Gold.

I like the 360 controller slightly better, but I have the new PS3 dualshock 3. Both consoles are hooked up to my TV via HDMI.

Which GTA version is better, now that people have seen both? And should I get the PS3 version just to play online for free because I have enough subscriptions to stuff the way it is (MLB extra innings, XM, etc. etc.) I have held off so far since I wanted to find out which version was better, and I am still having fun with MLB 08.

GTA IV for the 360 comes with a month of gold, if thats any kind of incentive. I think the DLC is too ambiguous to be a driving factor, like I know that i'm a single player gamer so if the DLC is something like online co-op missions that does nothing for me esp since the gold trial will be done by then.

I don't have either (360 version in mail) but I have to say that any difference is pretty much nondescript. The whole multiplatform thing this generation is pointless imo. Neither system has a sizeable discrepancy in capability like Xbox & PS2. FWIW there are alot of OS'ers on PSN but if you go that route you might want to wait until they fix up the network problems.

^^^ shows gameplay, cutscenes and loading differences. They also did a writeup and said 360 version looks better. The key here is that they use a 55", where the whole 630p vs 720p thing comes into play, as the PS3 version is just not as sharp. If you're playing on something smaller, maybe a 20" monitor like me, than its a wash. The only graphical difference really is that the PS3 version's colors are warmer while 360 is cool.

Great post, but that is the first site that I have seen that has said the 360 version looks better.

Every site I've read has said the PS3 version is slightly better. But pretty much, it's really a moot point.

Personally, I think the 360 version should've given you the option to install to the drive.

Should've started with Mass Effect, the texture loading issues could've been solved. Hopefully they do it in the future.

I doubt they ever will. I'm sure there are many within MS that wish they never would have released a non-HDD version of the 360, it's the biggest hinder in the 360's armor IMO. Developers have to basically code the main part of the game to run minus a HDD. Only Burnout so far has required a HDD, and that was for online play only.

It really doesn't make sense at this point to not allow it. I can understand regulating it so it doesn't become a requirement... but if you can optimize a game by doing it... why not? Win-win for MS.

Because then you alienate some of your base.

MS stance was the 360 games would be the same HDD or not when they did the stupid Core. Now they are paying for that. The moment they start putting installs in, all those 20 GB HDD's are eaten up, and then the arcade/Core people start complaining that they are on the 360 as well, but not getting the same experience. Someone will then turn around and sue.

People have sued over stupider ****.

Not if all installs are optional. You can't alienate someone who doesn't want to pay the premium to have the most options available to them...

But with the option, then obviously the installed games will run different. Take XBL for example. If COD 4 required an install, then the maps would load say in 10 seconds. The non installed people run in 20 seconds. The advantages could be all over the place, which would cause the people who can't install to be upset.

With the PS3, every system has a HDD standard.

Yeah but using your example, the different loading times wouldn't matter... the game wouldn't start until everyone has the maps loaded.

They can do it... it's just a matter of the fact that they don't want to... or haven't even thought of it yet. I see your point though.

Yeah, I think they could do it, I do agree with you. Just see the side that can't, bitching, and MS doesn't want that. They have enough people bitching about their systems. LOL
