    Prince of Persia's New Creed

The Prince of Persia is leaping onto PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 the first week of December with a brand new look. This is an all new Prince, different both in appearance and attitude from the Prince of Sands of Time fame. But what if the new Prince's look just doesn't do it for you? Fear not. Today, Ubisoft announced the inclusion of alternate skins for the Prince. You can play the entire adventure as Altair, star of Assassin's Creed or as the classic Prince of Persia from Sands of Time.

To gain access to the Altair skin, you'll need to register (for free) at Ubisoft.com. Once you have a copy of Prince of Persia, link your Ubi account to your Xbox 360 Gamertag or PSN screen name to access the Altair skin. You can switch skins from the main menu. This is Altair, but rendered in POP's slick art style.

Those who pre-order Prince of Persia from GameStop will get a code to access the Prince of Persia Classic skin. Pre-orders will also get a free upgrade to the Limited Edition game, which includes special packaging, a making-of video and the original soundtrack.

That is so unfair. I'm a sucker for anything that has to do with Assassin's Creed at this point.

Re: New Prince of Persia game (360/PS3/PC)

        IGN Review - 9.3

In every console generation there are one or two games that, regardless of any flaws, hold tight in my memory even years later. I can still picture scenes from Chrono Trigger on the Super Nintendo System as if I just played it the other day. Despite a flurry of great games released in the past year, I still get the itch from time to time to play Jet Set Radio Future on the Dreamcast. Your beloved games may be different, but I’m certain most long-time gamers have a few titles they treasure – the games they can never trade in. Ubisoft’s relaunch of Prince of Persia may just be such a game for me from this generation.

It’s not the best game ever released on PC, PS3 or Xbox 360; it’s not even the best game released this year. And yet Prince of Persia is that rare game that has managed to tap into that part of me that would die defending Chrono Trigger or JSRF. It has its shortcomings, but I already sense that Prince of Persia will be one of the few games from this generation that I carry with me for the next decade.

Re: New Prince of Persia game (360/PS3/PC)

                1UP Review - B+

Prince of Persia delivers well-crafted gameplay that borrows elements from its predecessors (and plenty of other titles) but makes great strides in developing a new identity for a series -- and a character that isn't as completely annoying as you might think from the first few lines of dialogue -- that seemingly lost its focus over the past few years. Of course, some issues here and there disrupt its goal in surpassing The Sands of Time, but it's an incredibly enjoyable journey nonetheless.
                IGN UK Review - 9.4

Ultimately, the only thing holding Prince of Persia back from absolute greatness is its very traditional core. Unlike this season’s heaviest hitters, it doesn’t seek to redefine anyone's notion of gaming, it simply wants to be fun - and there's something reassuringly familiar about the overall experience. However, that doesn’t detract from the simple fact that Ubisoft has delivered an incredibly polished, tremendously enjoyable and utterly lovable experience here. It takes all the best elements of previous franchise entries then expands and refines them to create an absolutely unforgettable adventure. It’s magical in every sense of the word and, after all those years in the wilderness, it’s good to have the old Prince back.
                Videogamer Review - 9

Ever since Ubisoft revealed its reboot of the Prince of Persia franchise there have been whispers of "game of the year", and it's to Ubisoft's credit that it has delivered a game that absolutely delivers on its promise, trumping Assassin's Creed in every way. Game of the year is perhaps a stretch too far, but Ubisoft Montreal has come tantalisingly close to creating a real masterpiece. There's no doubt that a sequel is coming; we only hope that the Prince and Elika have some time to work on their relationship in the time being.

                  Destructoid Review - 9.5

With Prince of Persia, the team at Ubisoft not only reached the bar they set for themselves with previous titles, but in many ways delivered a game that transcends expectations while setting a new standard for the series. Ubisoft has taken Prince of Persia in a wild new and magical direction, an enormously fun and gratifying game from beginning to end.

Sands of Time is held in such high regard by many gamers, myself included, and simply matching that experience is an enormous task in and of itself. The fact that Prince of Persia stands toe-to-toe with that giant is not only an incredible feat, but makes it one of the "must-play" games of 2008 and this generation.
                  TeamXbox Review - 9.1

Prince of Persia is a really pure gaming experience that will undoubtedly split gamers on the issue. Some will hate the controls, others will love them. Some will be bored with the game’s repetition, others will be enthralled by it. Some will love the voice acting, others will be on the right side of that issue. No matter. Prince of Persia is a gorgeous piece of work that may just pull more people into gaming by being as fun and easy as it is beautiful.
                  Kotaku Review

While many publishers would have been perfectly content to simply crank out sequel after sequel of a bestselling franchise, Ubisoft instead gambled with a total revamp of the Prince of Persia series, and their gamble paid off in spades. Not only have they maintained the core gameplay of the series, they've managed to improve upon it in a way that might not have been as noticeable had they stayed with the look and feel of games like The Two Thrones. Not only have they crafted a compelling new story for the game, they've created a completely new method for that story to be delivered, giving the player as much control over how the tale unfolds as they do over the Prince himself.

While I could have done with a bit more fighting and a slightly grittier voice actor to play the titular role, Prince of Persia still manages to be one of the most entertaining game experiences I've had all year.
                  GamePro Review - 5/5

All told, this is a great debut for the Prince of Persia series on the PS3 and Xbox 360. While I can't help but miss the old Prince's darker character, the new Prince's world is just too much fun to play through. Once you have at it, I'm sure you'll feel the same way.

PROS: Addictively fun acrobatic platforming, thought-provoking boss battles, beautiful Okami-inspired world, abundant puzzles to solve.

CONS: Incredibly cheesy voice acting, character design evokes romance novels, some will miss the darker Prince of old, no time manipulation.

Did anyone else get it today? It seems like it should take awhile to beat it.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I'm getting it for Christmas, the gametrailers review said the game length was around 12 hours. That should be fun.

I think the IGN review said it takes about 8 hours to get through the main story.

I'll probably put this one on the Christmas list. The graphics look awesome and so far all of the review seems to be glowing. It looks like the only real knock on this game is that it's too easy. I don't mind simple gameplay though, so hopefully that doesn't take away from the experience at all.

Has anyone heard if the 360 or ps3 version has the edge graphics/performance wise?

The graphics are BEAUTIFUL... the animations (though they aren't better than Altair's IN MY OPINION) are done rather well... some of the acrobatics will make you go "OH SNAP" (old school style) when u see it...

I thought the 1 on 1 combat would be boring but the combos you can pull off alongside Elica are EPIC if you know what you're doing...

What is kind of throwing me off is the Prince's "corny" jokes and the fact that nobody in this world has.. i dunno, middle eastern accents...

I just with there were CERTAIN times where Elica can't saves you, it seems like no matter what, she'll always be able to stop you from falling from your death... it's cool I guess but hopefully it doesn't take away from the challenge...

I haven't played for too long but it's definitely a nice SP game so far.

I got the LE today but saving it for Xmas. Still got too many other games to beat so I don't mind. Love the box art on that.

I got the Limited Edition but I think that the regular box art looks better. The LE is just plain.

Anyone playing this game....nothing posted in a few days. Was thinking about buying this game and I know the reviews were good but I like to go through the threads here before I do. I heard this game was a little easy. Wondered if that sucked some of the fun out of the game. Any impressions from anyone that has put some time in the game?
