How in the world did IGN give GTA4 a perfect 10 in graphics?
I've never seen a game with so many aliasing issues. I'm on a 32 inch 720p HDTV, tried playing on 720p and 1080i, and the game has horrible jagged edges, and looks too fuzzy at times. MLB 08 graphics simply blow this game away, but got an 8.5 in the graphics category. Is there a certain setting that I have set wrong, because I feel that GTA should look a lot better than it does.Tags: None -

Because its all subjective. The scores are not in comparison to each other so you cant compare a score for MLB The Show to GTA IV, they arent graded like that. Secondly, with all the constant loading this game has to do to keep things virtually seamless, its the best you are going to be able to get in graphics, these graphics are better then anyother GTA game to date and has more going on to boot, I think the graphics grade was legit, as long as you arent comparing it to another game and then expecting better then that game, first make sure you understand how they do their grading. -

Then I don't really understand how they do their grading. It makes sense that a game with a 10 graphics rating should look better than an 8.5 rated game, but this doesn't seem to be the case?Comment

Re: How in the world did IGN give GTA4 a perfect 10 in graphics?
No because other factors are takin into account. In GTA IV, they have multiple things going on at the same time, textures constantly loading and changing, which eats up alot of the what the 360 can do, so to have graphics this good with all those other things going on is impressive, and thats why it receives a high graphics score. Now in MLB The Show, its somewhat of a closed enviorenment, no need to load anything once the game is going, so not as much of the resources are being used, so their graphics needs to look better to receive a high grade. Hard for me to explain.Comment

It's different than Gears of War or MLB 08 The Show...Those games can spend a minute loading a single level or game, and only have up to 15 people on the screen.
GTA is a different animal, and to expect Gears or COD4 graphics is asking a bit too much IMO. Just from a technical standpoint I don't think it's possible given how deep the GTA world is.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

I guess you guys are right. Also, I turned RGB from full to limited, as I had read somewhere, and the game does look a lot better. Still pretty muddy, IMO, but better.Comment

Why? Hmmm the scope? the world and the detail even though blurry and jaggy. what you are talking about is mainly stuff that still exsisted in last gen graphics and had you yourself still thinking that games were a 10. Now it's less forgiving but truthfully the game is made with a completly diff intent.Brand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...Comment

The problem is with the reviews and the categories. Loading time shouldn't matter, how big of an area you have to move around in, or how many times you have to stop to load don't have anything to do with graphics. Graphics is how good it looks, nothing else. If you have to load after every step, shouldn't matter, that game would look great and should get a 10. If the graphics are the best they can be, because of other factors, fine, state that, but you have to rate it lower because of those reasons.Comment

Re: How in the world did IGN give GTA4 a perfect 10 in graphics?
IMHO a 10 for graphics is spot on
here is a definition that I found
The creation and manipulation of picture images in the computer. In such cases, the subject is typically called "computer graphics," but it is defined here as "graphics" in order to group similar terms together.
What looks more alive and has more information being manipulated by the system?
You have so many different animations all interacting with each other seamlessly meaning all the people walking and driving through the city at any given time, car damage related to the actual impact point, bullet holes etc all without making the user suffer through slowdown or loading times.Last edited by jerseyboi2284; 05-03-2008, 01:49 PM.Comment

Considering how huge the game world is and all the little things that make up the game I think that 10/10 sounds right. Sure there are some imperfections but you got to take into account the total picture before you can criticize too much.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Plus, if we're to argue against MLB '08: The Show, it is overly deep in saturation, has jaggies as well, and improper player models.
The fact that GTA is using Euphoria really brings this game up a notch as well.
