    Wii game advice...

What are some good Wii titles to pick up? It's my daughters Wii, but I have probably played it more. We have the Wii Sports (some other mini wii sports games that came with the wii mote) Mario Party 8 and Cooking Mama (which is not even close to how good it is on the DS. It's so unresponsive that I am going to trade it in)

I will probably pick up Mario Kart soon. I need to get Super Mario Galaxy. Do I need Carnival games? Rayman? Smash Bro's?

I am thinking of more multiplayer games then single player (other then mario galaxy which I can;'t believe I haven't picked up)

My daughter is 6, so keep that in mind too.

Hey Dookie, my four year old plays 'Mario Kart' and Smash Bros. with no problems...granted a lot of SSBB is button mashing, but he has a lot of fun. 'Mario Kart' with the wheel is very easy and intuitive to play.

Dookie, pick up Super Smash Brothers Brawl. You won't regret it and it is a lot of fun. Like Johnny said, a kid should have fun playing it because it is pretty much just button smashing.

Id suggest Big Brain Academy- pretty fun game. It will only last you so long though.
I love fishing, so Sega bass fishing was a must for me. Still not a great fishing sim, but I like how the controls are used.

Not sure what else to suggest. Im looking for suggestions too.

Metroid Prime was very nice, but I guess won't apply here - more a game for yourself, Dook.

My kids love EA Playground (Dodgeball is cool).
Sonic vs. Mario Olympics is fun also.

For me some I'd pick up would be Super Mario Galaxy, Kart, SSBB, Mario Strikers Charged, No More Heroes (more for yourself though), Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, the new Wii Ski, etc.

We actually played Carnival Games quite a bit at first (my daughter is 10), but not so much anymore. We play Wii Sports more than anything. For some reason she really hasn't gotten into Super Mario Galaxy or Smash Brothers. We'll probably pick up Mario Kart one of these days. We like it on Gamecube. I was saying in another thread that it's really strange, but we seem to play more Gamecube games than anything (Super Mario Party 6, both Lego Star Wars games, Mario Kart).

                  Re: Wii game advice...

I'll probably pick it up today (might go at lunch) and maybe one more game. I saw Mario vs Sonic Olympics is only like $39 bucks. I might get that one too. My little brother has it and the short time we played it was fun.

I might see what used games they have and pick up a few. I don't really want to pay full price for Mario Galaxy even though I am sure it's worth it.

One question, when I play a Wii game (can't remember if it's every game or not) but it doesn't seem to take up the full screen on my widescreen, is there anyway to get a full screen picture?

Yeah, unfortunately some of the Wii games "underscan" much like the PS2. At least the Nintendo made games (Mario, Zelda, Smash Bros.) fill the whole 16:9 widescreen edge to edge.

The best bet would be to see if you have some sort of "overscan" option on your TV (usually in a Picture or Screen sub-menu) which should allow you to adjust the display area. The problem is that a lot of the basic zooms will enlarge to the picture TOO much.

I picked up Mario Kart and I am trying to choose between mario vs sonic olympic games or Carnival Games. They have them both used at Gamestop so I will save a few bucks. I'll probably just go Mario vs Sonic.

Yeah, I saw that review at IGN. I'm tempted. Videos looked cool.

                            Dookie,

I am assuming you have the HD cables, and not all games have 480P output. The games that have 480P output fill my widescreen completely but that games that do not support it have some black on the edges

I have Mario vs Sonic Olympics and Carnival Games. I'd go with Mario and Sonic if I were you. Carnival games is fun, but I think the fun with Mario and Sonic will last longer with a group. The events in it require a lot of activity and that playing with the Mario and Sonic characters is a big plus.
