I think this is a great match up. Both of these game gave me the "Wow this might be the best game ive ever played" vibe within the first week....blown away by both of them....

exactly. story might be the deciding factor for me....and I havent finished GTA yet.....but I know alot already have.

I'm in the same boat. I've played Mass Effect to death and still have a desire to finish it all to get the achievements. That's my favorite at the moment but I want to see how GTA plays out first.

GTA without a doubt.

I played ME for about two hours, got incredibly bored, and traded it in a few months later after never playing it again. Most disappointing game I have ever played.

I like the combat in mass effect much better including controls. The stories are about equal for me in that they both are good. GTA has the open world where me has an illusion of an open world but really you go point to point without much choice.

I went with me, but I like them both equally.

I'm in the same boat with Mass Effect...While it was obviously a well designed game, I became disinterested and bored quickly with it.

Although I dont think its the most disappointing game I've ever played *cough*NG Madden*cough*

put me in that boat too. Great game and story, but man did it get redundant fast.

IMO

I dont think one game wins glaringly in any category except Sound..... It's tough for me....I know one of the moments in Mass Effect (I wont spoil it for those who havent gotten there) was on the same level of Airies(sp?) on FFVII dying for me....I dont know if GTA do that or not...

What you should ask yourself is if you spent 10+ hours on GTA and then have the accidental deletion of the save, would you put in time again? Did you put time back into ME? I think that this poll is slightly unfair only because GTA came out just recently. Have to let it marinate in the mind a little. I was just thinking about this question for those who have played both.......

I definitely think that Mass Effect is better. I don't think that GTA is a bad game but Mass Effect pretty much kills it in every area.

I like both a lot, but I'll say GTA. For me, Mass Effect became too much "rinse, wash, repeat" with all the missions (especially side ones) becoming so repetitive. Land on a planet, drive around, collect the deposits, check for crashed probes, go into a building and kill everyone. The buildings were all the same too on the side quests, never any new environments.

Yeah, GTA IV gets repetitive too but you can approach the missions differently, plus the city is crazy

Mass Effect is better to me. That game really sucked me in. I couldn't wait to explore the new environments, meet new characters, talk to the squad, and just loved the story. GTA is a great game, but it just didn't suck me in as much. GTA's story missions were pretty predictable and fairly similar, drive to place, get to place, either stop and wait to chase car or go and find a character and kill him. There were a couple that broke the mold, but I was getting tired of it, maybe I've just played too much GTA before. I think it would be interesting to do this poll in a couple months and see what comes out, I think a lot of people are still on the "honeymoon" with the game.
