Re: The Lord of the Rings: Conquest

Played the demo a little more last night and enjoyed it a little more. The battles are still too "helter-skelter" and random (it'd be nice if there was some kind of lock-on feature), but I had fun. I may still give this game a shot.

I may be crazy, but I liked the game. The single player should be fun (granted, I'm a Tolkien and LOTR films geek) and the multiplayer could be enjoyable if they balance the classes a bit better. I think they overpowered the archers a bit (they shouldn't be able to knock off a rider with one weak arrow) and the Ents and Trolls were nigh impossible to stop.

I didn't consider Trolls and Ents to be that bad since you can run up behind them and hit RB to do a button sequence. Takes two of those to kill them.

I guess I could never get behind them, LOL.

I felt the same way. I liked it. BTW, is there any other single player things in the demo?

I don't think so...just the little tutorial gig and taking down Sauron.

This is already out, huh? I think my friend might of picked it up, just doesn't look too promising.

I bought it. I liked the demo and will try the multiplayer, but I mainly wanted to go through the campaigns. If it sucks after that, I'll put it the credit or what I get on eBay for it towards 'The Show'.

If you are scared of the scores but enjoyed the demo or the premise, buy it. I never understood people standing on the sidelines for a game they enjoyed the demo of or that looks good to them because some other person rated it low.

still going to pick this up, big Lord of the Rings Fan i enjoyed the other 2 hack and slash games from EA so i`ll pick this one up.

I really don`t care about reviews from sites, i do like reading impressions of games from sites like OS and BMO.

I picked this up yesterday, and I think people will like it if they are big LOTR fans. If you are not a huge fan of the BF series or LOTR, I doubt you will like it very much. There was much ado about the graphics, but I think they are fine for the most part. The controls seem sluggish, and the combos are not all that great. The biggest let down for me is the imbalance of characters when in certain situations, and I think this could have been fixed by adding/subtracting abilities to certain classes. If I had to grade this I would give it a C.

So I had some fun with the campaign yesterday...Helm's Deep was cool (even if you can't be Gandalf or Eomer riding down the hill), sure it's mindless hack and slash gameplay and control points, but it's still fun.

I did have a hard time on the next level, where you attack the pits of Isengard, as I kept getting knocked off these narrow walkways.
