I'm so skeptical of Bond games since the horrendous run of movie games post-Goldeneye. It was like the Army Men game, remember that? One great, fun game followed by 12 ****ty, ten minutes to make sequels. If this is ever on my PS3 it will be as a rental.

Re: 007: Quantum of Solace (PS3/360)
My doubts about this game were completely formed before even seeing a screenshot. Activison got the license in part because EA failed to deliver movie tie in games like MGM wanted. Strike 1. Then they dumped it on Treyarch, who made a mediocre CoD3, but is also making the new CoD5. Strike 2. It was in development while the movie was being shot, so much of the game actually takes place during Casino Royale, Strike 3. The Bond game and CoD5 come out in back to back weeks. Strike 4? I'm wondering if both will get the same kind of reception in reviews, as they now appear to have just been holiday cash in games from Activison from the beginning.Last edited by bkfount; 11-02-2008, 01:50 PM.Comment

Re: 007: Quantum of Solace (PS3/360)
I bought it.
I think it may be one of the greatest rentals of all-time.
Frustratingly, the game could have been epic.
I say rent because the multi just isn't up to snuff. It reminds me of Counterstrike but the biggest problem with it is that the graphics don't hold over to the multiplayer arena.Comment

There's really cool parts like chasing the bomber guy through the construction site from Casino Royale, and the cover system is good, but does gets old after awhile.Last edited by bkfount; 12-06-2008, 03:19 PM.Comment

Re: 007: Quantum of Solace (PS3/360)
I was really hoping for some other sequences though outside of all the shooting. Like driving the Vanquish, playing some poker, or something. The bodycount in the game probably eclipses 22 Bond films, lol. Fun rental, but it's already on the way back to Gamefly after beating it.Comment

Re: 007: Quantum of Solace (PS3/360)
I got it from gamefly, and like you said, it's a great rental. It truly does feel like this was meant to be a Casino Royale game, but they worked on it too slowly, and the Bond people just wanted them to tie it into the next movie. 80% of the game is all Casino Royale levels. They quickly gloss over and Quantum of Solace material, since the movie was being filmed while this game was in development. They don't even have the correct Bond theme music from either movie, which I would have thought would have been the easiest thing to put in.

I hope every COD from this point forward adds the cover system.Comment

Re: 007: Quantum of Solace (PS3/360)
if it's done right, sure. I just want the levels to be designed more naturally. All the levels in this game are full of blatantly placed cover areas. So much so that it feels tacked in.Comment

Re: 007: Quantum of Solace (PS3/360)
What iffed me about this game is that it forces you to do the button pressing minigame whenever you try a melee attack. So if you blow your cover trying to sneak up on someone, his buddies are going to shoot you all day while you're busy going through the animations and hitting the face buttons.
Please, bring back the slap.Comment

Re: 007: Quantum of Solace (PS3/360)
It didnt do anything for me. it would have been nice if they would have added more in-game cinematics and some more James Bond Spy Stuff. Someone at somepoint has to tell these developers that James bond Games should be about spying first, gunplay second. My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: 007: Quantum of Solace (PS3/360)
It's a decent shooter, and worth a rental. Single player can be finished in about 10 hours or so. Variety of weapons is a plus and the visuals aren't bad at all.PSN ID: Lordcledus

Re: 007: Quantum of Solace (PS3/360)
I finally played the demo and it ran well on my laptop. Even the PS2 version (3rd person only) looks decent. Too bad my PS2 died just after this game was released. I'll try to find the PC version. My Specs:

CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
GPU: Monochrome display
RAM: 48 KB
OS: Sinclair BASICComment
