    Wii: need help deciding

OK, here's the deal. The Mrs. and I were talking recently and she mentioned how I haven't asked for a "big" gift at Christmas the past few years. She asked me if I would maybe want a Wii and I told her I wasn't sure.

It's weird, I go back and forth on the issue. On the one hand the controls and the family-friendly games really entice me. Then on the other hand, I look at my 360 and the number of games I have for it and how little I actually get to play it due to work.

So, do I really want another system, especially one that probably will be used as a secondary system, as I'd continue to play most of my sports games on the 360?

I dont mind my Wii but, and this is just in my experience, but its quickly turning into the Gamecube with motion controls. The game support still lacks, if its not first party Im not interested, so far atleast, and I currently only own Mario Galaxy and Mario RPG and thats it. The system doesnt get played at all anymore, the only reason I have it is because my other half wanted the system so I dont have a choice in getting rid of it. If you have kids then it might be a better purchase then it was for me, if not then do some major research as to the games currently out and coming out to see what you would actually be interested in playing.

I bought a wii last year, truthfully I only use it when I have a lot of friends over and even then just play wii sports. Super Mario Galaxy is an incredible game, and the only game I can actually enjoy playing by myself on my wii. I suppose you and your wife could have a lot of fun with a wii.

I had a Wii and then sold it because I never played it.

I'd have to agree that unless it's a 1st party game it's pretty much junk right now. Mario Galaxy is an awesome game as is Mario Kart, although i wouldn't recommend dropping the money on Mario Kart unless you're going to play online with it. That's where the game is really great in my opinion. The virtual console is a big plus as well if you're interested in the old games. Tiger Woods is pretty fun too with the motion controls.

I think it is quite possibly the most overrated system of all-time.

The best thing about the Wii is that you can give it a chance because it holds its value. Bought mine for $400, played it for 3 months, then sold it for $500. There is no risk.

Thanks for the honest replies, guys.

I think the thing that was really holding me back was the lack of quality titles. Don't get me wrong, I love first-party Nintendo games, but they seem to be few and far between. Third-party support is very minimal, in terms of actual quality titles.

Plus, my wife isn't a huge gamer and we were over at a friend's house that has a Wii and she didn't play a single game. So, I'd be using it myself, and I'm just not seeing the value in that in the long-term.

Thanks for helping me make up my mind. I think I may go after an HD monitor for our (hopeful) finished basement when we move in a few weeks. The 360 will be going down there and I'll need something to play it on.
