These games are based on loot and if the loot is rewarding then you don't mind the grinding. All games are repetitious, you do the same things over and over. COD4 is just shooting guys over and over but the loot,(perks&weapons), is what draws you back for more. Also if you are playing co-op then it's a fun time to meet and not have to be entirely focused on the story and just have fun playing like you did when you got your first nintendo.

 Re: Borderlands

I think this game could have done with more equipment. Instead of a shield, they should have given us helmets, body armor, and leg armor - that would have given more things to drop, more things to look for, and made it a little more exciting.

Imagine Diablo 2 with just weapons - that would have gotten boring fast. The fun is that there's so many different pieces of equipment, so there's really more reason to go out and upgrade your stuff.

Edit: oh yeah - and I just fought Skagzilla... I need to go buy some ammo now. I depleted 3 different ammo types to kill him. It was worth it, too.Last edited by MC Fatigue; 11-02-2009, 09:35 PM.Comment

Thanks for the replies about the random guns. Makes sense.

All I know is that you guys better be around in a month when I'm ready to play this game and probably go online.

Man, maybe I should play this before Batman Asylum (I just don't want Batman to start losing value for a trade-in)."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. play batman first. it's a great game, but you really only need one playthrough to enjoy it, this however will last you awhile. Thanks for the replies about the random guns. Makes sense.

 Re: Borderlands

So I had pretty much said screw SMG's up until this morning. I got a pretty good one as a reward for completing one of the New Haven missions, and I have been mowing down fools with it. I always look at the damage and thing, why not use a shotgun with 250 damage over an SMG with 30 damage, not really figuring that I can pump so many more rounds into the enemies. I'm taking down same level bruisers fairly easily. Only downside is that ammo runs out quick, but to compensate, I grabbed the SMG upgrade that bumps you from 400ish ammo to 900. Working out so far. Doesn't seem to do to well against skags and spiderants, but against human enemies, it's money.Comment

 Re: Borderlands

I love the SMG, but I cannot find one that fits my style yet. I used one early on, but it quickly became outclassed by my rifles, shotty, and my revolver, which I love. Shock revolver that does 100+ Damage FTMFW!So I had pretty much said screw SMG's up until this morning. Re: Borderlands

That's the thing, the SMG doesn't really fit my style either. I typically would charge head on into a crowd, drop my turret that deals x3 fire damage, and starting blowing guys away with shotguns or assault rifles. The SMG lets me take out the big boys from a distance, as this one has crazy good accuracy (scoped), so I can then charge in with my shotty and make quick work of the rest.Comment

 Re: Borderlands

Yep. You want a SMG with a scope, a large ammo clip and the fire damage. Go for repeated headshots. Works great on even the toughest enemies.
