Wow, EA down nearly 10% in trading today.
Wow, EA down nearly 10% in trading today. I guess being an exclusive license holder to just about every sports league isn't paying off quite as well as EA hoped. http://www.gamespot.com/pages/compan...hp?company=619Last edited by rm217; 07-30-2008, 09:49 AM.Tags: None -

Re: Wow, EA down nearly 10% in trading today.
LOL, yeah, it's all because of the bugs in NCAA 09. Some people...sheesh.
Either way, I'm moving this out of the Madden forum and into the Non-Sports Gaming Forum since this has ZERO to do with sports titles, lol.Comment

Re: Wow, EA down nearly 10% in trading today.
So... what your saying is that EA picking up an exclusive license caused them to drop 10% on some random day five years later? Yeah.
Look, I'm not expert on the stock market, but this is one of the most ridiculous insinuations I think I've ever seen. There are two types of people on OS: Those who disagree with me, and those who agree.
The first kind is wrong. The second is superfluous.

Thanks for the update. The Market is a very sensitive thing. If shareholders are not secure in their investment, selling does drive the price down. It may seem insignificant, but if a high dollar game does not go over as expected, the value will drop.Comment

Re: Wow, EA down nearly 10% in trading today.
This stock was at 69.31 not that long ago on March 8, 2005 around the time of the NFL exclusive license deal and it has since droped 36.9%. OUCH! I also heard that Madden preorders are weaker than expected for the second consecutive year!Comment

Re: Wow, EA down nearly 10% in trading today.
EA's Q1 2009 financial result shows that the company doubled its revenue ($804 million compared to last year's $395 million), mainly driven by Battlefield: Bad Company and UEFA EURO 2008, and Rock Band, while Boom Blox so far sold 450k copies. The investors conference call had less positive news as EA has decided to delay its free-to-play online FPS Battlefield Heroes in order to give the devs more time to implement community features, as well as Tiberium, its FPS set in the C&C universe, from its scheduled late 2008 until fiscal 2009, which runs anywhere from April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010. However sports fans will be delighted to know that next year Madden, NBA Live and NCAA Football are coming back to the PC with expanded online features. There are two types of people on OS: Those who disagree with me, and those who agree.

Re: Wow, EA down nearly 10% in trading today.
this is actually almost like clockwork for EA. they are near their 52 week low, and will be at the 52 week high just when madden drops or at most 2.5 weeks after max. They are always ridding high at the end of aug and into sept. Just watch.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Wow, EA down nearly 10% in trading today.
Actually, they also have exclusive FIFA, English Premier League (FIFA sells more than Madden you know...) and PGA licenses. I agree with your general premise about people looking to bash EA but it's kind of ironic that you tell someone to get their facts straight yet you neglect to check yours.Comment
