I'm hoping Arkham Knight can strike a balance between the open nature of City while showcasing some fantastic, atmospheric locations and the more immersive and personal nature of Asylum. With the increased scope of City in both the story and map it left behind those great moments from Asylum that put you on the edge of your seat. Between Scarecrow, the console crash, and the story itself Asylum felt more contained, but the experience felt larger and more impacting.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum
I was working through some of the Combat Challenges last night. I had not only forgotten how fluid the combat is, but how punishing it is to watch. Getting into a good flow and racking up 40+ combos is just a thing of beauty. Once you get the guys sorted out into spaces that are manageable so that you're just going from one to the next you just feel like a BAMF.
Since I bought this game on Xbox originally I had never gotten to play around with Joker, but he is a blast to play with. I wish you could go through the campaign with him because he's just hilarious to watch fight.

Agreed. I did beat Arkham City, but felt Arkham Asylum was a lot better.Comment

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum
The biggest problem I have with City is the story is largely the same except there's MORE. So, Batman/Bruce Wayne gets lured into Arkham CITY and he has one night to find out what's going on. I've just had a rendezvous with Joker. So far the game has been fairly linear and straightforward though the map is starting to open up with various side activities and quests.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum
I say that, but I don't really know 100% because I only played a few hours of City before growing tired of it. It soured me so much on the franchise that I didn't even bother with Origins. Honestly, I'd have to read reviews before making a decision on Arkham Knight, but I'm hoping it will be good.My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum
City is a great game, but its fallacies are common with all open world games. The main story suffers due to the distractions on the map. The gameplay itself is awesome. It builds upon AA and expands it logically without being a steep incline in difficulty. Plus, it is a ton of fun. All the side quests are done very well. The Riddler challenges are just as fun (and maddening) as before. Playing as Catwoman is fun and is implemented without having a tacked on feeling.
The game itself does a wonderful job of introducing each little piece over the course of the initial main story missions so you're not immediately overwhelmed with content and a wide-open map. Its a nice segue way from AA to AC. Still, the story seems to take a back seat for the majority of the game and is fairly unfocused throughout since there's so much built into it.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum
Just started playing this again a couple nights ago despite the fact I have a handful of unfinished games. Thanks, dicks.
Anyways, going back to the beginning of the series, I forgot how limited you are at the start in terms of what Batman can do. I also decided to play on Hard to change things up. I have my moments where I can do just fine in combat without the counter indicator, but it definitely takes some getting used to. Already died a few times just in simple gang encounters.Last edited by BlueNGold; 01-22-2015, 06:20 PM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum
Big Batman fan but I missed these games on release due to me being deployed to Iraq and then stationed in Germany (at that time I only focused on my online sports leagues).
I'm loving the game so far. I do wish Alfred was my "eyes in the sky" instead of Oracle but ehh, its whatever. I mean, he does know how the inner workings of the Bat Cave as well and could relay the same information. Oh well.
I also bought Arkham City and can't wait to play it when I'm finished this one. I have about 4-5 more chapters to go. Hopefully I just have armed thugs and no more Scarecrow dreams, crazy people running around or Killer Croc lair haha.#WashedGamerComment

Thank you for your service.
Man, how I'd love to play this game a first time again...
Enjoy it while it lasts.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Thank you for your support.
But I just beat it. Pretty good game. I usually get bored with games but that one - and maybe it was the Batman theme - kept me interested all the way through.
Now I must go find the Arkham City thread and bump that from the grave haha.#WashedGamerComment

I also don't see that much of a point with this series specifically considering how recent and well done it was.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.
