    Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum

    This game rocks the heezy. My one tiny gripe is that I wish the combat were a little more varied in terms of different buttons, combos and moves. Otherwise though, this is a fantastic game. The cinematics and voicework are both outstanding throughout and this sounds trite, but the main appeal of the game is that you basically feel like you are Batman. Walking through a corridor, you feel like Batman. Taking out a room full of armed criminals without being seen, you feel like Batman. This game just does an outstanding job of taking you inside the Batman character and making you feel like you're wearing the cowl and cape.

    Awesome game. I played a bunch yesterday and I'm 25% through on normal. After I get through the game, I plan to go back for all the Riddler puzzles and then I'll probably run the game through again on hard. But this will probably be the first game since Marvel: Ultimate Alliance that I play all the way through.

      100% agree with all the positive things already said in the thread!!! AWESOME game. After playing story mode for about 2 1/2 hours last night I tried out the challenge rooms online. I thought I'd only be a few minutes but it turned into another 1 1/2!!!

      Does anyone know how to unlock the next room after the first one? I have scored at least 12000 in the first room but it hasn't opened up any other challenges yet. Also what is everyone's opinion on playing as the Joker? It takes some getting used to but once you do he is pretty awesome. Remember, L1 is your friend. I think it's pretty cool how you can crush skulls as "Bats" but the Joker is much more of a schizo type fighter.

      Just a really good game. You can tell they really polished it as far as immersion level goes!!!
      Pick it up, you won't be disappointed.
      Don't blame me for what those nitwits said...They don't speak for me!!!

        let me just say this...

        i'm 37 and not really good with games like this...i mostly play sports games and that's about it. this may be the GREATEST game i have ever played in my life. i played last night for 3+ hours and absolutely loved it. i'm sucked into this totally!

        and when that scene takes place of leaving the building (crawling through the tunnel-thing) and then you come outside - that is like a thing of beauty. i just sat there for a couple minutes looking at the screen.

        i'd recommend to anyone riding the fence to get this...you'll be amazed at how much fun it is!

            The cool thing is the buttons are really simple, but the amount of different moves he pulls off is flat out amazing.

            I will act like real batman and just glide in and drop in the middle of 5 or so bad guys and not touch the left stick to move. Only to aim where my next strike is going and you can dispatch a group in badass batman style and look and feel like him.

            You smash the guy to the left in the face. A guy behind you runs up to strike, you do a back kick to back him up A guy to your right comes swinging with a pipe, you do a diving roll over the top of him, then another guy charges you from the front. You catch his punch and twist his arm flipping him to the ground smashing his face in. A guy runs up behind you and goes to kick you in the head. You turn around catch his leg, pick him up and throw him into two other bad guys coming towards you. You jump and land on one of the down baddies and take him out the game. Then you finish the last one off with a spinning round house.

            A simple look into what the combat is like :wink:

              My brother talked me into buying the game and very early on it just seems "too much like work". I don't see the spontaneity-it's almost "directive driven". I guess you have to be into this type game. He actually has played the PC demo till fatigued.

                I'm 33 and the same way as you - mainly sports games and little else. I am enjoying this game so much that I'm not sure when it will come out of my system.

                            It probably will with all these positive media reviews and if the game sells well. The have have the foundation now for an engine so I wouldn't doubt it.
