Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum
This will be non sport game purchase of the year. That game looks way too freaking sweet. I love BatmanGaming hard since 1988
I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.Comment

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum
Yeah, it's on PS3 demo units, played it at Best Buy tonight. It's not the story part though, only the mini-game "how long can you last against baddies" thing.Comment

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum
I checked the game out while I was in Best Buy yesterday. It's hard to pass my judgement on the title based on what you can do (you just fight a group of goons, and if you beat them you fight a larger group, and so on) as my biggest fear for the title is the camera. Just watching some videos it looks like the camera could be annoying when Batman is on foot. I will say, in this demo the camera was fine and it stayed above the action for almost a top-down look. The combat was pretty simple and very easy to pull-off. When guys are coming at you and about to attack blue wavy lines (makes me think of Spider-sense) appear above their head. If you hit triangle Batman will counter whatever attack it is they're going to do. He may block a punch and elbow them in the face, or catch their arm and spin around them. It looks particularly cool when the guy has a lead pipe or something and Batman takes it from him and beats him senseless. Attack is just square, and you can mash it if you want and get good results (just have to watch out for the other enemies and counter when appropriate). Circle is a cape stun which works well to temporarily stun a small group of enemies. The room is small so I couldn't really use the batarang for much but I chucked a couple of them. You can either do a quick throw or target limbs, it seems. The animation is top notch and Batman moves like you would expect him to and the game does a good job of making you see why Batman is so good at what he does. At one point during the last round the game told me I could do a takedown move by pressing triangle and circle, but I never pulled it off and couldn't tell what I did to an enemy to prompt that message to come up. I wish I had more time to try the expert room (the demo has two challenges unlocked, one normal and one expert) but I came away feeling pretty comfortable with the title. While its impossible to say if it will be an all-time great or something, I do feel it will at least give the gamer the best Batman experience to date (which isn't exactly saying much but I'll take it).Comment

- Tells its own story, but it has parallels to the graphic novel Arkham Asylum.
- Batman is very vulnerable against bullets.
- You have to use the detective mode to find clues, take samples, etc.
- Detective mode also helps to find secret ways through the asylum and scan for enemies.
- Game reminds them of Metroid Prime: open world, you have to scan for stuff, use a grappling hook to get rid of obstacles and find secret tunnels to get through the world.
- Really enjoyed what they played in the preview code.
- They say the release is July 6, 2009.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum
Writer Paul Dini on Arkham, Batman, and More
Though Paul Dini has worked on many projects during his long and prolific television career, the writer and producer is perhaps best known for his work with DC's seminal crime fighter, Batman. Whether it was the classic Batman: The Animated Series, the futuristic take on the dark knight in Batman Beyond, the more recent The New Batman/Superman Adventures, or even his work on DC Comics' Detective Comics, few creators know the Caped Crusader more intimately. It's not much of a logical leap, then, to understand why Activision and developer Rocksteady Studios jumped at the chance to work with Dini on the upcoming Batman: Arkham Asylum. In the game, Batman will be facing his archnemesis, the Joker, as well as a who's who of Batman's villains, all while isolated in the creepy confines of Gotham City's insane asylum, Arkham. Recently we had a chance to chat with Dini over the phone about his approach to revisiting Batman once again and about the process of bringing a beloved comics character to life in a video game.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum
Play As The Joker In Arkham Asylum PS3
A new advertisement appearing earlier than expected in Sony's PlayStation Home reveals the ability to play as The Joker in PlayStation 3 exclusive challenge levels for Batman: Arkham Asylum.
Several readers sent us in blurry photos of the new sign, which has appeared in various spots throughout the Home service today, featuring a grinning Joker (the best kind) and boasting exclusive challenge levels for the PS3 version in which players will be able to take control of the clown prince of crime. I hopped online and snapped my own shot, but appreciate the efforts of our readers to bring this story to light.
I contacted public relations for the game, who couldn't offer me any details on the exclusive, or whether or not the Xbox 360 version would be getting something similar. In fact, the man I spoke to seemed rather shocked that the ad had already gone up. Whoops.
We'll keep you posted once details are actually released through normal channels.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
