Infinity Ward back.

Possible science fiction shooter?

UK, September 16, 2008 - Activision has confirmed that Infinity Ward will be returning to the Call of Duty franchise, and will be behind the sixth instalment that's due for release in 2009.

Call of Duty is currently in the hands of Treyarch, who previously worked on the third game and are taking the first person shooter back to WWII with the forthcoming World at War. There's still no news on where the next game will be set, and though Infinity Ward is thought to be at work on a futuristic science fiction shooter, it's more likely that this is the touted new IP for the company rather than the introduction of ray guns to the series.

Wow, we can hope it is sci-fi. Imagine the gameplay with a sci-fi twist that would be off the hook.

I guess im giving up on this game. I hate sci fi based games.

They made one moden warfare game and they're giving up on that already?

If it's a sci-fi shooter I doubt that they would go completely star trek with it. I would think it would be something more along the lines of GOW. You know, a near futuristic setting with mostly bullet based weaponry. Who knows though..

I have never understood why the Call of Duty series has not made a Vietnam game. There are so many World War II shooters out there and understandably so. But Vietnam really lends itself to a first person shooter. There really hasn't ever been a good Vietnam game and Infinity Ward could definately deliver on this one with a Call of Duty game.

Activision.

They even cycle developers to cash in on the franchise. Treyarch did CoD5, but they were also busy with the Bond game, while both are coming out this November. I don't have high hopes for a CoD game made by anyone other than Infinity Ward.
