    I think you'd enjoy it.
I am going to give it a try. Thanks for the heads up.

As a softcore gamer (shooter, strategy, role-play) how is Metal Gear Solid 4? I downloaded the demo and played a little, but I felt just as if I was missing something I should know.

I found MGS4 to be an enormous bore. Way too many long cut scenes that I think took you out of the game rather than draw you in. The shooting mechanics are average and everything felt too scripted and you weren't there to play but just to watch the cut scenes, play a bit and then back to a long cutscene. If i wanted to watch a movie, I'll watch a movie, I buy video games to play. There were cut scenes 20 minutes long. It's not a game you can pick up and play and you have to devote hours to get anywhere. Overrated and you have to be a big fan of the story to really enjoy it.

That's a shame because MGS4 is one of the greatest games I have ever played...in my life. I think you really need to play all of the previous MGS games to fully enjoy the total awesomeness that MGS4 is though.

I have always played sports games exclusively. Every non-sports game I have ever tried I have either lost interest or gotten too frustrated and quit (I know, what a wuss.)

For some reason, Uncharted hooked me from the beginning. I had a blast all the way through it. It felt like having a book going. Each evening I would play for a time to unwind and each day I looked forward to joining that world. I couldn't wait to see how the game ended, but bummed when it was all over.

Looks like I have been missing something all these years. Now I have to decide what the next game will be.
I know exactly how your feeling. I have in the last month and a half completed Half Life 2 (I know I'm late) and on November 20th Gears of War 2. What has helped is that I play one game at a time now. I am now onto Super Mario Galaxy, and its a blast.

I couldn't see myself playing anymore than one non-sports game at a time. Like reading a book, I can only have one going at a time.

I was reading through the user reviews of this game on Gamefly, and that was a reoccuring statement.

I forgot to mention, after I beat Mario Galaxy this is will be my next 3 games to finish fully (disclaimer it will be the only game I play, until completed)

                  1. Shadow of the Colossus

                  2. Fallout 3

                  3. Grand Theft Auto 4

I have a huge backlog of games to catch up to.

First game I ever completed was GTA 4. I'm not really that old, at 22, but it's just that I don't have much time on my hands to get through games. Though, when it comes to Sports games (NHL, Madden) I could play night and day, 24/7.

Honestly, I think the last game I beat outright (without cheating) was Sonic the Hedgehog 3. I've become way too much of a sports gamer for my own good.

                          Good for you, though.
