GTA 4 Vs. CoD 5
I can get one or the other for Christmas, and I was wondering if I could get some opinions on what would be better to get.NCAA Basketball: Minnesota Golden Gophers

Re: GTA 4 Vs. CoD 5
Most people here will recommend COD 5, especially for its online replay value.
I have a bigger question, though... have you played COD 4 or GTA: San Andreas? IMO, if you haven't played either or you've only played COD 4, I suggest you try GTA IV. It will be a breath of fresh air seeing how many things you can do in the game, it is simply my favorite game of all time. Only thing that's holding it back from being the top game out there is when I find out that the next GTA installment is going to be released. I'm in the minority in this regard because people fell off the hype machine when they found out you weren't able to dress as a hobo, fly a plane, and parachute into a volcano while harpooning seagulls, but it's the next closest thing to virtually doing anything you want to. If you consider it an issue, the only stopping force is the police, which are fun to evade. Plus, trophies have been put in as well.
As for COD 4 and 5, they use the same engine and are essentially the same core game, which is a great thing. That's why I ask if you've played COD 4, because either you would know what it's like and base 5 on that, or you can just decide to hold onto COD 4 if you own it, buy it used cheap, or something of that nature... that way, you can have both games if you want (GTA IV can probably come cheap as well).
My recommendation? Go to a Gamestop on Black Friday and take advantage of the Buy 2 Used Get 1 Free deal. It really is remarkable IMO. Then you can get a third game of your choice.
Overall, I say GTA IV, but that's one biased person's opinion. I simply love Call of Duty, but I'm personally waiting on Infinity Ward's next release. Hopefully they'll bring Modern Warfare back. Besides, I have SOCOM as my prime online shooter for now, so I can hold off on COD. Maybe you can't, but if you want more aspects like driving and missions, etc., go with GTA IV.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60 -
Re: GTA 4 Vs. CoD 5
So how exactly does that buy 2 used get 1 free work? Do you purchase 2 used games and then match the most you paid for one of your used games to get the free one of the same or lesser value? I have been looking on Gamestop and can't find anything on it.
Also, I have played COD 4, and I really liked it. The problem was I was really tight on money at the time and had to trade it in to get a new game that I had wanted for awhile. I have not played San Andreas, however.Last edited by dukeblue; 11-26-2008, 02:05 PM.NCAA Basketball: Minnesota Golden Gophers

As for your choice I'd ask whether or not you play online a lot. COD5 will have longer term online play, but GTA4 has a much longer single player mode...which works better for you now?Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: GTA 4 Vs. CoD 5
When I did have COD 4, I loved the online play. I usually played online, finishing just one campaign. I just don't know if it would be better to get COD 5 off ebay or gamestop's black Friday. It seems to be going for a little over 50 on ebay, so I am not sure. Any suggestions would be appreciated.NCAA Basketball: Minnesota Golden Gophers
