    Re: Uncharted 2 (PS3)

I have 2 chapters left myself. Both yesterday and today I put in a considerable amount of time as I was only around Chapter 11-12. I think like Rudy says that this game gets epic around Chapter 16 and pretty much wipes away any iffy feels you may have had the first half of the game. I am impressed with this game now that I am further along and we shall see how CODMW2 goes before I say either is my GOTY.

I hope that I can complete this later tonight.

Yeah, that's a valid point. Maybe they should dock the skill level just one then.

          Re: Uncharted 2 (PS3)

I finally finished the game yesterday. And like I had posted before, I was initially disappointed in the game. Not sure how much of it is due to it being a sequel to a game I loved but I definitely liked the second half of the game much more than the first half. Chapter 16 and on felt more like the first game. It had bigger environements, more epic gun battles and I preferred the slower pace at times. Treasures were still too hard to find. Overall I enjoyed this game but I still feel the first one was better.

To be fair I am going to buy the first game for the third time (this time I'm not trading it in!) and see if how I feel about it after the sequel. I did just play it at Christmas time and loved it all over again.

Here's a longer review in my blog for those interested (single player only, no spoilers):

Did the first Uncharted have all those stats at the end of the game? I did like seeing my hit percentages and how often I died or redid check points.

The original Uncharted is going on sale for $19.99 at Best Buy Canada starting Friday, October 30th. Not going to find a better deal than that.

Whew, I'm finally on chapter 4. This game is holding up well. That dude at Gamestop may convert me into a gamer after all. lol

Can anyone recommend any other 3rd person games that are REALLY good??

I was exactly like you about 2 years ago. Only sports games for me until I was disappointed in the football games that fall and tried out some of these games. And I only play 3rd person games too as I can't deal with the FPS camera angles. The first game I played was Uncharted and I fell in love with that one. I would definitely recommend you picking up the first one.

Other games I have enjoyed since then were the Bourne Conspiracy. That game is similar to the first half of Uncharted 2 but on crack. Very fast paced. It really doesn't have a good story and the graphics aren't as good as Uncharted but it was a lot of fun. It's a very fast action 3rd person game that has a cover and shoot system. But half the game is shooting and the other half hand-to-hand combat with a cool takedown system. Definitely download the demo for it. If you like the demo you will like the game.

inFamous was very addicting. That has a setup similar to GTA but it doesn't feel like it because it has a super hero flavour to it. I had a blast with that game and it's very long. Again, download the demo and see if you will like it.

Lastly, Marvel Ultimate Alliance (1 and 2) were fun. Those are strictly arcade type button mashers and very different from the above games. Very little strategy compared to Uncharted or a game like that but they are fun. If you like super heroes and like smashing a lot of stuff constantly you might like it (no demo though).

It just keeps you the entire way...It's so tough to compare a great single player game vs. a great multiplayer game for GOTY, they'll both be awesome in different ways.

InFamous is a very good 3rd person game that was really fun from start to finish. You will not be disappointed.

Uncharted 2 during the first half of the game feels like more of the same due to the enclosed environments like Rudy said, but once you get past Chapter 16 the game opens up and has this epic feel to it. I am so excited to see where they take this franchise with a third game. I beat it on Normal and it wasn't so bad and I actually beat the final boss in my first try which people said it took them from 30 minutes to over 2 hours because they kept on dying over and over. He wasn't easy but you really had to use strategy against him and watching where you ran.

I died quite a few times on Normal in the final fight. Then I stumbled on an easy way to do it.

I do agree completely with you that the game hits the epic portion at Chapter 16. It was like a breath of fresh air for me from that point on.

Thanks rudy! I'll look into those games. I really like the cover and shoot system. I've catching the devil in normal on this big gun battle on "The Dig" I think it's Chapter 4 after you find out that dude is trying to find Shambhlah (sp?) instead of the Cintimani (Sp?) stone. Man this game is fun. I believe this may be the first game I try to finish since I finished the 1st Gears of War. I will definitely be picking up the 1st Uncharted.
