Re: Help With Gaming Article
1. Good netcode/no lag. A good and quick matchmaking system.
2. The online play plays a big part in what I purchase. I only rarely but titles that don't have multiplayer, and those are usually the big RPG's like Mass Effect and Fallout. If its a shooter though, it has to have a good online mode or else I won't buy it. I need longevity with my games.
3. More games to continue adopting the matchmaking systems used by Halo and Call of Duty. More sports games to start adding online dynasties.
4. Xbox 360. I don't have a PS3, but Live blows PSN away.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Help With Gaming Article
1. What are your expectations for a new release game with online capabilities?
You'd like to have no lag at all or no glitches from the outset, that unfortunately tends to only happen about 60% of the time. Games upon release are usually filled with glitches and connection problems.
2. How often does it reflect your decisions on what game you will or won't purchase? Any examples of games would be great.
Not really, I've never been an online-only type guy, I'll only get a game if I know it can be played decently on single player. Whether it's an NBA 2k9, or even Call of Duty 4, the fact that they still have solid single players along with the potential of great multiplayer, but it's hardly a game breaker for me.
3. What would you like to see in the future for online gaming?
While this isn't really the companies fault I'd love to see glitching, cheating and all the dirty and annoying tactics that ruin so many games either eliminated or frowned upon.
4. What system do you prefer for playing online? And why?
I personally believe the Xbox 360 is the far superior online system because of their easy connectivity and now seemless chat system. I love the option that one of my friends playing Call of Duty 5, one of my friends playing Madden and me playing NBA can all talk in the same party. Plus the invite systems, messaging is just completely seemless and really wors well. Add in NetFlix compatability and it's no contest.
I'm a journalist too, always good to help out your own kind

Re: Help With Gaming Article
Hey guys, this is dickdalewood's girlfriend. I am writing an article for my journalism class about online gaming, and was wondering if any of you would be willing to answer any of the questions I'll post on here. If you do want to answer any of them, I just need your name and where you're from...and you can send dickdalewood a private message if you prefer.
The questions are:
1. What are your expectations for a new release game with online capabilities? Lag-free. Decent match-making abilities, lobby. DLC support.
2. How often does it reflect your decisions on what game you will or won't purchase? Any examples of games would be great. Lag, Match-making/lobby stuff: Rarely, If a game is great Ill work thru bad online functionality, If a game is bad; I dont care how could online stuff is. DLC: again rarely, but, it will effect my long term play of a title. ex: COD4, Had great fun with the game for a couple months, but a quick look at the Devs DLC history, and what was coming down the pipe(not much) and traded it in while I could still get some value for it.
3. What would you like to see in the future for online gaming? Something to get rid of the kids, I loath them.
4. What system do you prefer for playing online? And why? 360, why? Its the only system I own.
Thanks for your help!!!!!!

Re: Help With Gaming Article
The questions are:
1. What are your expectations for a new release game with online capabilities?
Easy to play with friends via Party system or inviting through friend list, That is my number one expectation with online games..And for sports Online Dynastys
2. How often does it reflect your decisions on what game you will or won't purchase? Any examples of games would be great.
If I know I can play the game with friends online in a easy and fun way, I'm more willing to buy it because even If I don't enjoy the single player as much I will still get my $60 out of it.
3. What would you like to see in the future for online gaming?
Sports Games with Online Dynasty's(This kept me playing NCAA longer then any other game including Mass Effect,Assassins Creed,Rainbow Six V2, All Pro Football 2K8 and NBA 2K9). Make it easy to connect to each other unlike this years NBA 2K9
4. What system do you prefer for playing online? And why?
Xbox 360 because of the universal friends list, and now the party system. Although PS2(Have not played PS3 online) was an enjoyable experience with the Socom Series
