Which RPG type to you perfer?

Turn based or Real Time? Explain your answer.

For those who dont know, Turn based is a RPG that you and the CPU take turns sellecting a attack between each other. Examples:Final Fantasy 10, Final Fantasy 7, The way Pokemon games had you battle, Xenosaga, Blue Dragon, etc.

Real Time are RPG's that you actually move your character during combat and attack with the buttons back to back. Examples: Kindom Hearts, FFXII, Enternal Sonata, etc.

For me, I always loved Turn Based RPG's. Just seems like I can use more Strategy and plan out what I am about to do beter with Turn Based than Real Time.

Real Time. I hate having to stand around and wait with no control over whether I die or not. With a real time system I can avoid attacks or get more attacks in before I die.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Same thoughts for me. I can't play a turned based game.

I voted both, but leaning towards turn based.

It really just depends on the game, as I like Oblivion, Kingdom Hearts, Fallout 3, and other RPG type real time games...

Usually when I play the "epic" RPG I like the classical style, ability to use your entire party, strategy, etc.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. It all depends if it works for the game or not. I like fallout 3s style, but fallout 2 was turn based and I liked that as well.

My first choice is turn based in the strategy RPG style-games like Disgaea and Final Fantasy Tactics-. Ignoring that style,I have to say real time now. It used to be turn based, but I can no longer finish a turn-based RPG. I don't have the patience anymore.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

In the past few years, real time RPGs have really stepped up their game, imo. Mass Effect and Fable 2 in particular have systems that I really like.

The JRPGs have really been turning me off with their character design. The feathered hair and midriff baring outfits are just too much for me.

Real-Time is better, if done right (Bioware's Baldur's Gate). In that battle system, you literally get all of the strategic benefits of a turn-based game with the more dynamic experience of a real-time game. In other RPGs like Fallout 3, you can see how the switch took away some features that the old turn-based system had. It's not real-time's fault; it's just the way it was implemented.

I like turn-based because it is a lot harder to screw up. If a turn-based RPG sucks, it's probably because of something besides the combat system.

Real time is my pick. I just loved Mass Effect and Fable 2 (until the end). I want to be able to feel my powers that have developed (quickness...strength...ect) and be able to take advantage of it on my own without waiting. Real time just seems more....real.

I love both equally. Though my favorite game of all time was FFXI which is an MMORPG that is real time. I played that game so damn much.

I hate the Japanese RPG look too. The only one that I saw that interested me was Blue Dragon because of the art style until I found out it was turn based.
