Which is better Rock Band 2 or GHWT?

I did some research on this and most websites said it basically comes down to what playlist you prefer, but I wanted to ask OS'ers what they think.

How are the controls?
Is one game's controls more responsive?
Which instruments are better?

I like the GH controls better for guitar/bass (solos/slides can be done with normal frets + open bass notes + bass solo/slide sections) but there's not a whole ton of difference. It's the same basic thing.
Don't know about drums only having played them in RB.
Singing is WAY better in RB 2.
Not sure on the instruments themselves. I have the RB 1 stuff and only the GH 3 guitar.

If we're talking one on one straight up (no exports and direct comparison DLC),GHWT is better.

However if you were to include the entire RB DLC catalog and not just what's been out since GHWT + the RB 1 and AC/DC exports then RB is better.

Though I can tell you everyone else here is going to say RB no matter what.

their playlist but you can load up an MP3 in rb2 and drum along with it in freestyle mode.

For drums RB2 wins for me simply because of the cymbol expansion kits you can but. Virtual drumming doesnt get much better than that unless you buy an Ion kit.

I just barely got GHWT 2 days ago for cheap and yea the slider thing is interesting but it comes up at you so quickly you barely have any time to move your hand down to slide then back up to play normally again. Tapping the sliderbar to strum is awesome though.

Songs-wise Rock Band wins because of ACDC and the other 500+ songs available now. The only song I am jealous of that is in World Tour is Beat It.

I would recommend Rock Band 2 then pickup WT used.

I feel RB has the better career mode in it. To me it feels like you are part of a band trying to make it to the big time by having to start small and make a name for yourself. In GHWT, you are basically a guitarist/drummer/etc for hire that you play gigs with other bands. Each gig in GHWT you are playing with a different band, whereas in RB you can create all the members of your band in the career mode.

As for as controls, GHWT has a much bigger timing window than RB, that means you don't have to be as precise with the timing of the notes as you do in RB. But overall I think the note charts in RB are easier than the ones in GHWT, so it kinda evens out. GHWT has the advantage in the way you play the notes in my opinion because they have a 6th note when playing bass (I like this because it increases the difficulty of the bass part some since it is generally a lot easier to play than guitar) and GHWT has sustains which is where you'll be holding down a note and then add another note to it while still holding down the first one. These are real fun to play and RB needs to add this for RB3. When it comes to control responsiveness, both games are just fine.

When it comes to instruments, I only have experience with the guitars from GH3 and RB1. I prefer the GH style guitars because of the strummer. The RB guitar strummer was just dreadful to me, but I haven't played with the RB2 model yet so I don't know if it is better. The only drumset I have is the RB1 set, I like it just fine.

Both games offer a create a player for you to be, but RB's create a player is much better I think. GHWT has some cool features to their creator like face structure and a wide range of emotions to give your rocker, but I don't like what GHWT's characters end up looking like because of their graphics style in the game. In RB, I think your rockers comes out much more realistic, plus in RB you can design your whole band, not just who you are controlling. GHWT does offer real life personalities like Ozzy, Travis Barker, Sting, Nugent, Zakk Wylde, etc and you also get to play gigs with Hendrix although you can't control him. So that's a good thing for GHWT. Also in GHWT you get to design your instruments whereas in RB you pick out an instrument and then you can only add art to it. Still, RB looks better in the end to me.

When it comes down to the music on the game, I think GHWT has the advantage of songs on-disc compared to RB2, but the style that you play them in (career mode) makes RB2 more fun to play the songs. There is no question that if you are willing to pay for DLC songs, RB blows away GHWT in song selection, it isn't even close.

I play RB2 much more than GHWT, mainly because I like the career mode more and the song selection (I'm sure I have at least 350 songs), but I do appreciate some of the features and the song list in GHWT.

Forgot to mention,RB will make you play the same songs over and over and over even if you dont like them and if you think they're only ok you'll probably end up hating them,GH you only have to play them once per instrument.
