One other thing I forgot to mention. Even though I felt like the Illusive Man was trying to trick me into saving the base I figured it would help to fight the reapers and after that if the I.M. tried to use it for nefarious purposes I would take him out.

Been arguing with a few friends of mine about the final choice. What did you do?

Is there anyway to change my squad member's armor?

Im only at the beginning of the gameif that helps...
(Only recruited Jack so far)

No. All you can do is unlock alternate uniforms for them after you do their loyalty mission.

Yup...really my only beef with ME2 is instead of building upon the customization and RPG elements of ME, they took them out or limited them.

I only played through the second ME as I couldn't really handle the crappy battle system in the first one. Was there really a larger system for customization and such? I remember going through ME2 and wishing there was such a thing.

I blew that ish up. I don't trust the illusive man at all. He just sounds like a "Human Supremacist?" lol. Once the collectors are gone I think he'll go crazy without someone to fight.

Yeah, it wasn't super deep or anything, but there were more weapons and armor, and you could customize them (for all party members) with various upgrades to ammo, plating, resistances, triggers, etc.

The menu management system was rough and some of the customization was redundant or pointless, but I was hoping they'd tune and expand it rather than eliminate it altogether. The only addition was to allow color changes, but for Sheppard only (and all that's ignoring the minor but annoying fact that many of the cooler armors you can get in ME2 forced you to wear the helmet even in non-combat situations).

Yes, absolutely. Don't go anywhere near Mass Effect 2 until you finish the first one.

That's what I was thinking. I know I can get on PO copy at Gamestop. How long does it normally take to complete the first one? I heard it can be as long as you want it to be.

If you do most of the side quests and are not skipping conversations and all that, should be somewhere around the 30 hour range. It can be longer if you want it to be, it can be shorter. Just depends on how much of a completionist you are.

Interesting... It's amazing a game can be that long and still longer if the person wanted it. Some of these games should be ashamed to have a 9 hour campaign mode.

When I bought ME2 a few months ago I just hopped onto Wikipedia and read the story from ME1. I had played halfway through ME1 about a year ago but it got to be a little boring and i never finished. I still completely enjoyed ME2 and never felt lost in the story.
