The saves are character specific so you won't even overwrite the other by accident.

This would be for ME1. Thanks!
Without the classes in front on me, I would recommend what I did: soldier. If you're used to shooters, you'll probably get the most enjoyment out of that. Since you get to command your squadmate's powers you will also get a sense of the biotic abilities. ME1 is probably a little more "RPG" due to all the customization that is possible with the guns and armor, but not overtly so. ME 2 is a bit more streamlined in that respect.

Based on your description we have very similar backgrounds in terms of games we enjoy. I can tell you I have never played an RPG before nor had any desire to.

Now I'm a Mass Effect geek. I'm even reading the novels right now to get my ME universe kicks.

Have fun and be prepared to get sucked into a DEEP universe.

You can tell the teammates to use their powers but you can't control the powers like you can if you're a biotic character. Don't pick soldier, it's boring.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

          Says you.

Being a soldier only makes playing on Hardcore more fun/challenging. Didn't keep the game long enough to beat it on Hardcore unfortunately though.

I was thinking about getting this game to hold me over until Skyrim comes out (Cause I beat Oblivion 9 times)

I was just wondering, it's not squad based is it? I mean, you don't have to run around and babysit people do you?

Also, is it a sandbox type game where you can just roam around if you want to?

And last, when you beat the game, does it just end, or can you continue to do things?

You have 2 party members for each mission. You have a weapon and power wheel where you can give them orders on which gun/power you want them to use. You can also direct them where to stand if you want to. I never really gave my squad orders and just let them operate freely and they were useful. Occasionally I would give them orders to overload an enemies shield but thats it.

It's not sandbox in the Oblivion/Fallout sense. There's a couple planets where you can walk around on outside of missions and pickup quests, but you can't walk around shooting everything like in a Fallout or GTA.

When the game ends you can still do side missions.

I'm off work this week without much going on so I'm using it to play through ME 1 and 2 as a hero female Shepard to prepare for ME3

Just blasted through ME1 with my female Paragon. I had totally forgot what an ****/awesome game the first one was. Even after blitzing the game over the course of a couple of days I am ready to go for #2. ME3 might be my most anticipated game ever.

I am about to do the same thing. I got a new xbox recently and forgot to transfer over my ME1 and ME2 saves so now I am going to try and recreate my same playthroughs.

I'm still just amazed that Bioware has been able to pull off this trilogy with things actually carrying over from one game to the next.

What's up with the lateness on getting on the DLC trob?

As for the lateness, I had just kind of gotten burned out on the console. Except for the weekly 2K Vets league game I rarely turned the 360 on and I only use my PS3 for movies. I've got about 5 more games to finish now until Skyrim is released since I know that will take up pretty much all my free free time until ME3. I'm starting with ME2.

I got so backlogged with games this year that I only was able to run through the game once as a soldier. Want to go through 2 more times starting today and need good suggestions on what class I should roll with.
A shotgun-wielding Sentinel. If they shoot me, my armor explodes, dealing damage. If they don't shoot me then it's a shotgun blast to the face. It's so fun being a tank.
