Either way the four maps that are playable are very entertaining and when you have a good squad going then the game is truly fun. Hopefully this game will survive another month or two so that EA will feel the need to add more maps. Until then Wake is really all that I need to have a good time.
I hope they add a few of the Europe maps that they had.

My wet dream is them releasing Battlefield Vietnam like this one. I f'in loved that game. My pc could barely run it as it kept crashing but when I got in a good hour before it would crash it would be a special event. LOL.

Re: Battlefield 2: Bad Company and Battlefield 1943 announced

1943 isn't bad, but I've been playing it mostly because people on my friends list have and I've been bored, not because it's anything special.

What annoys me, is that the original Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 2 (which was like 3 or 4 years ago?) still beats it in almost every category.

            - Sniper prone (not possible in 1943)
            - Better control of vehicles
            - Tanks weapons were stronger and easier to aim
            - Parachuting served a purpose other than just bailing out, you could land on tall buildings to snipe etc
            - Sniper zoom a lot further
            - Anti-tank rocket launcher fired a lot quicker
            - Better respawn points (in 1943, snipers just stay aimed at spawn points and have that fraction of a second to kill you before your controls kick in)
            - Better hit detection
            - No soldier speak - i.e. it's nice and realistic (maybe) but when your soldier yells out when close to an enemy it kind of ruins the surprise attack

Don't get me wrong, it is fun, but this is EA to a tea where they are removing features or doing them worse than older games.

I played the demo and this game is cool, but I passed on it. The controls did not feel tight to me. I went back and played COD4 right after to help me decide if I should buy it, and I ended up passing. The concept is pretty rad though.

GSW, I went to planet Battlefield and it looks the map you are talking about is HUE 1968 and Reclaiming HUE. That was a fun map. The girl talked when the Vitenamese side controlled the center point of the map.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Gets a Release Date

Battlefield 1943 just past the 1 million mark for sales with Battlefield 1943, but at EA's press conference at Gamescom 2009, a release date of March 5th in Europe and March 2nd in North America was announced for Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

EA is saying Bad Company 2 is going to redefine the online first-person shooter. They want to emphasize large open scenes of battle, squad play, and vehicles. Players are encourage to work as four person teams, with DICE giving the example of firing tracer darts on vehicles so another player can blast with an rocket. Working as a team will also work to give you special unlocks.

The Frostbite engine is being upgraded as well, with cover and walls able to be chipped away at and destroyed outright. Again, look for it next March.

Re: Battlefield 2: Bad Company and Battlefield 1943 announced

                      Customized Battlefield Vehicle Combat

With Battlefield’s rich vehicle pedigree we simply weren’t satisfied with just providing new rides in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. We took our existing rides back to the mechanics for tuning and expanded Vehicle Combat even further by adding customization and new gameplay features.

For the first time in Battlefield history we’re adding customization to the Battlefield Vehicle Combat. In Bad Company 2 players can earn customizable vehicle upgrades that let them tune a vehicle towards their own play style. Vehicle Specializations allow players chose between Enhanced Armor, an Upgraded Weapon package, Smoke Grenades to hide, an Electronic Warfare package to locate nearby enemies, or an Optics Upgrade to zoom in on targets. These upgrades can give a vulnerable tanker the means to escape, defeat, or outlive his opponents. Finding the right Vehicle Specialization to fit each play style is crucial to success in Vehicle Combat.

While standing toe to toe and slugging it out is always a valid tactic in any skirmish, the experienced Battlefield player knows that there’s tons more depth to who wins and who loses than just accurate fire. To bring greater depth to Bad Company 2’s Vehicle Combat we turned the page back and drew inspiration from the original Battlefield 1942. Tank shells that hit armor at extreme angles will glance off doing less damage, while direct hits deal critical damage. Armor thickness also varies significantly between the front, sides, and rear of armored vehicles. A hit that front armor simply shrugs off can quickly become a problem if the same shot is delivered from behind. You’ll need to watch your back and mind your flanks to stay ahead of the competition.

Of course teamwork is the ultimate trump card to any tactic; the best tanker drivers work with their Engineers to achieve total victory in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. We’ll talk more about how Vehicles and Infantry work together to build a balanced Battlefield in the near future.

I'm glad this is coming out in March. Just around the time when I would need a change of pace form MW2 It will be beautiful rotation between the two games.

The first Battlefield Bad Company was fun but the squad only chat, the amount of idiots in the community and only 2 game modes killed the game quickly. The idiot community part probably can't be fixed but if they add a team-wide chat (so squads can communicate with other squads maybe?), while also adding more total maps and traditional modes to the game in addition to the two original game modes then I'll definitely give it a rental or possibly even buy it outright.

This game has a lot of potential still.
