"Earlier in the month, we found out who the most consistent publisher in the world is. As in, whose games consistently receive good review scores. Now let's find out who the best developer is.

And surprise, according to the people putting this list together, it's not Rockstar. Why? Because while Rockstar is a single entity in terms of publishing, there are, at last count, eight Rockstar development studios. And they had to be counted individually, meaning only one Rockstar team - Rockstar North (ie the main GTA team) - made the cut.

Its 11th-placed finish, only one spot behind Valve, is because the survey (by researchers GameQuarry) counted both quality and quantity. So while teams like Rockstar, Valve and Infinity Ward (at #19) do great games when they do them, they don't do them as often as the list's top four do.

so the list basically values having yearly (sports) releases that'll always rate at least in the 75% and higher range over a company like Bethesda, who has put out less frequent but much higher rated games like Oblivion and Fallout 3. Even Insomniac Games is quite far down the list, although they've developed well reviewed games in several different genres over the past few years.

No disrespect to VC, but this seems like something they could have tweaked for their list.

Yea i do not quite understand this. Valve has got to be far and away the best Developer. Visual Concepts makes good games but recently they have been pretty average. Valve on the other hand Consistently makes amazing games.

And EA canada is the one pumping out the good games. I like VC, but they're not #1 to me. I'll always look into games made by Bethesda, Bioware, Infinity Ward, Bohemia Interactive Studios, Ubisoft Montreal, Epic Games, Tretchark(sp?), EA Canada, - after UFC undisputed Yukes is on my radar, ...Firaxis there are others... who made max payne? anyway there are a bunch others I just can't think of right now, but that list has nothing to do fantastic releases

Co-sign. this list is crap. The volume of games produced should have absolutely nothing to do with who the best is. VC is currently the highest rated sports developer cuz of nfl and nba, although the quality is good its not the best in the industry when we're talking about ratings and quality.
