Guitar Hero: Shout at the Devil

"A seemingly innocent interview over on MTV has turned up the news that ageing rockers Mötley Crüe are possibly working on a dedicated version of Guitar Hero.

Aside from gearing up for the tour, the band is also working on side projects, a new album and a possible Mötley Crüe-inspired edition of "Guitar Hero.""

I hate Activision. I much prefer Harmonix's style of releasing a game and then releasing a ton of DLC for it rather than coming out with a new on-disc game (that you presumably can't export) every two months. It's going to ruin this genre of game.

I also hate Activision, however the GH Metallica and if they do GH Motley Crue, is a lot more compelling to me then another pack of Offspring DLC for Rock Band.

Hamonix hasn't had anything interesting for me to DL in months. I wonder if deals like this are the reason why.

I love Motley Crue, but what the hell is Activision doing? They are going to kill this franchise in 2009.

yeah I wish this stuff was DLC on Rock Band, but I'm excited about the possibility of this game. The Metallica one looks a lot more polished than the Aerosmith one, and hopefully the Van Halen one will be awesome too.

But I do actually like playing from time to time where the characters are real life guys instead of my created character. So GH games satisfy that for me.

Well record labels are starting to get whiny with Harmonix, and Activision is spending more money to get exclusives with metallica, jimi hendrix, van halen, aerosmith, etc.

I do prefer having regular DLC rather than full $60 releases, but the money involved with this genre is going to end up killing it.

Yep, leave it to the record companies to ruin a good thing, and something that can help their artists.

This all sucks, but I'd would have more fun playing a GH Motley then RB Beatles. Even though I like RB 1 trillion times better. In the end it's the music itself that's the draw.

A year ago I though RB would be having this Itunes like DLC so everyone would be buying what they wanted. Sucks that it's coming to this.

I agree with what you're saying. To me it would just be more compelling if they released all this stuff as DLC for GHWT rather than separate discs. If they did this I would probably buy GHWT. I guess for the time being, I'll just have to be happy when I get some RB DLC that I actually want to buy.

It's definitely all about the music, I'm just such a fanboy of the RB platform that I hate seeing them get the short end of the stick.

In a sense though, they're not.

Yes, we all may not like every single DLC put out...but the fact that someone, somewhere does and people will buy it means we all win. Harmonix sees that people buy the DLC and continues to put it out instead of focusing on multiple individual games. I'll give them a pass with the Beatles because they're such a big name that I'd give them their own game too.

Yes and I love the variety RB offers, but GH is locking up some of my all time favorites, which is disappointing. (Metallica, Crue, Van Halen).

Ah, see - I'm not a big fan of any of the bands GH has locked up. I don't mind playing the Metallica songs I have in RB but I don't play them enough to ever say "I'd buy more if they released them" so none of the GH things really bother me.

It does bother me that there are "exclusives" to begin with, but that seems to be life these days.
