Re: Fallout: New Vegas
How did you, your sister and brother complete it in one day if it froze a tone for you, your brother and sister?Yeah I remember FO3 froze a ton for me, my brother and my sister. So thats 3 copies on 3 different 360's. I will probably hold off on this since I am getting EA MMA tuesday.
I will save this game for the heart of winter when I need something long to play and I do hope it is long. I remember this sales associate told me FO3 was long.....and it wasn't, beat it in one day and so did my sister and younger brother.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I live in my own house on the east coast, my sister lives in her own house in the midwest and my younger brother still live in our parents house in the midwest. 3 different states, 3 different copies, 3 different 360s.
I get 6 weeks of paid vacation a year, my sister gets 7 weeks of paid vacation a year and my brother was on christmas break. So me and my sister was on vacation.
I say it would freeze like once every 40 minutes or so. I started playing like 7am, got done with it shortly after midnight. But then again I just did straight storyline.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I could beat it a lot faster than that if I broke sequence, but that is completely missing the point, much like flying through the main story. To really enjoy the game, one needs to enjoy all of the stuff outside of the main story.
On the freezing, Fallout 3 was a janky game. It froze for me sometimes, some framerate drops at others, some crazy glitches as well.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Oblivion was the same way, it's probably the engine that's the culprit. It seems as though once it crashes once, it happens all the time. I had no problems with Fallout 3 and I had no problems in one playthrough of Oblivion, then another playthrough of Oblivion it crashed and the game crashed with regularity until I just stopped playing.
For what it's worth Fallout 3 can be beaten in under an hour and Oblivion can be beaten in 9 minutes, but that's kind of missing the point.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I want this, but not now. I got Fallout 3 a little late and then played all the expansions this year so I feel like I can wait before playing same game, different story.
If this was the next Oblivion it'd be a day one purchase. I may even get that Two Worlds 2 first if they get it right this time.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
The game has a pretty nasty memory leak on the 360. Reports have suggested that clearing the cache every few hours clears up the slow down/lockups.Other than the freezing the game has been great. Some will have freezes some won't. Is it similar to F3? Of course. Is NBA 2K11 similar to 2K10? Of course but it is still a brilliant game and Fallout New Vegas is no different. Its a brilliant game from what I have exp up to this point
I'll be snagging this tonight for the PC as my GS is doing a midnight release and I don't work til monday. Full week of New Vegas fun coming my way.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I would like to thank Bethesda for saving me $60, there's just no reason to buy this. DLC is "exclusive" to 360 meaning I will Gamefly this, keep it for a month then 11 months later they will release a GOTY edition with all the DLC on disk and 4-5 months later during the late winter lull I will buy the GOTY off ebay.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Help a guy make a tough decision:
I had F3 near release and put a fair amount of hours into it, mostly into the main story (last thing I remember was). But then my profile got corrupted, lost my saves, and couldn't bring myself to redo all that work. Yesterday, I popped it back in for the first time, and went a different direction with many of my choicesSpoilerDad's dead and I'm running around killing mutants getting his filter system onlineI was having some fun with it again, but am still not looking forward to retracing my previous steps.SpoilerNuked megaton within 30 minutes, then executed the guy that paid me to do it
I'm thinking Vegas might be a nice reboot because it's a similar engine in every way but new story. then again, I don't want to play an inferior version if Vegas isn't up to snuff with F3. Thoughts?
EDIT: Nevermind. I reread this and realized how ridiculously premature this question is.
Someone offered me $25 for my used Fallout 3 so I'm trying to rush this decision so I know whether to sell.

I'd say give Vegas a shot. Seems like you need a refreshed story to keep your interest.Help a guy make a tough decision:

From what I hear Vegas is very similar to FO3, so it seems it would be up your alley.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Wait PS3 isn't getting any DLC?I would like to thank Bethesda for saving me $60, there's just no reason to buy this. DLC is "exclusive" to 360 meaning I will Gamefly this, keep it for a month then 11 months later they will release a GOTY edition with all the DLC on disk and 4-5 months later during the late winter lull I will buy the GOTY off ebay.
Edit: Nevermind, reading elsewhere I see it will just be released later. I heard the same thing happened with FO3 (I didn't buy it until the GOTY was released) so if that is true, how long did it take for the PS3 to get the dlc?Last edited by Buckeyes_Doc; 10-18-2010, 07:03 PM.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment
