Yes, or double click the mod, and Archive Invalidation is safe to use anytime.

Speaking of which, I see that's the only place to change my graphics setting. I can't tell if I'm defaulting to high or ultra and I'm afraid to change the default. I also see Bloom is unchecked for whatever reason. Do you think with these mods on my Alienware I can still run the game on Ultra like it can the Vanilla game (which it does with ease)?
Click advanced under Detail, if everything is checked, set to high, and the sliders are maxed, then that's the Ultra settings. HDR is better then Bloom. I would be surprised if the Alpha had any problems with these mods and running at Ultra settings and 60fps.

This one is still baffling me. I've tried it both ways (starting up with the controller and starting up with keyboard), and I simply cannot figure out how to select my perks in the perk screen. I'm debating on actually switching to my keyboard manually through the settings any time I get a level up. It's crazy. Everything, and I mean everything, I've tested works perfectly so far on the controller. From the pip-boy light to picking up items from chests to crouching, etc. I am really at a loss on this one.
That is weird. So, you can't even use the left stick to select a perk? Have you tried starting a new game? Can you even select initial traits and whatnot during the beginning with the 360 controller?

I looked around this morning and could not find this patch on either the ILO page or the YUP page. Is it possible the patches have been implemented into the newest versions? Could you provide me a direct link?
If you downloaded the first file for ILO (Interior Lighting Overhaul 6-9 - FOMM - NMM), you should get a pop-up when you double click or activate it. This is where you can select these options and others before installing. Deactivate this mod and reactivate it again. Then once it's installed, disable and re-enable Archive Invalidation.

I installed MCM this morning. You're right. It's awesome.

I went to download this this morning as well, but on the description page it's recommending I also have this:

    http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/57174

I didn't see it on your list so I wasn't sure if I needed it or if it was safe to use without it? The file doesn't recommend it by force, but really really suggests I use that mod too. Any thoughts?
I do use it, it's just another mod that doesn't have an .esm or .esp file, so it won't show up in the load order. I didn't know it was recommended for MCM too, so you should definitely use it.

Am I ok to leave this alone?
Change it to not read-only, but Steam tends to overwrite this if you launch the game through it and you may get this message every time you launch NMM. Instead go to the main directory for Fallout New Vegas and find Fallout_default.ini. Right-click -> properties and un-check read-only under attributes.

I can only launch the games menu from the vanilla version. When I launch 4GB NVSE, the game takes me directly to the Bethesda splash screen. I read around a bit online that this is pretty common. If I save these settings from the vanilla version, is it safe to say they will stick when I launch from the 4GB exe?

I started a new game and everything now seems fine. The only thing I couldn't do with the controller was launch the keyboard to type my character's name. So I had to switch to my K+M for that. Weird. But otherwise, all is good with the 360 controller.

      This worked perfectly. Thank you.

Is this necessary to do? Every time I launch NMM I do get asked that and just click yes and my game works fine. Is this only important to do if I just simply get annoyed by the pop-up (it doesn't annoy me at all), or is my game actually broken if I don't change this in the ini?

Last questions for now: I tried to install the weapons texture pack but it's asking me if I want to overwrite YUP's patch. Is the best thing to do just deactivating YUP's patch, then activating the textures and then reactivating the YUP patch? Or should I just leave the patch installed and let the textures mod overwrite it?

I also heard the textures pack was pretty buggy. Thoughts?

The last mod I wanted to install was the outfits one you're using but I just get so worried I'll do it wrong or break something if I don't deactivate something else. The instructions don't mention anything other than downloading it to a folder and then adding it via the manager but doing this stuff manually still confuses me.

For one, I'm still unsure if I need to unzip these files after they download and then add them with my manager or if I'm supposed to leave it zipped? Gopher's video show him adding most of these manual mods while the folder is still zipped but my previous experience with computers (which is very little) kind of instilled in me that all zip files need to be extracted before they can work.

Also, as my mod list gets larger, I get worried about doing something wrong. I guess logic would dictate that if I had an outfits mod (which I don't), it would be smart to disable it before adding this one, but I do have texture mods and just don't still really understand how to avoid these conflicts.

Any advice on installing the outfits mod (I can post my updated plugins load order if you want) or any advice in general on this as my mod size increases? I'd also like Project Nevada but the same level of uncertainty keeps creeping in. I'm afraid it will break my MCM! LOL!

Yes, the settings will stay the same.

Actually, you don't appear to be using any mods that need to change ini files, so you could just leave it as is. Next time you get the pop-up see if you can check something like, don't show this message again. It won't break anything to change it to not read-only though. Your choice.

Overwrite, yes to all. Disable and re-enable Archive Invalidation. I haven't had any issues with it on my end. This is another mod that won't show up in your load order, as it's just meshes and textures.

Leave the file zipped. Just download the file to the desktop or wherever, then click Add Mod from File in NMM and open that file. That's it. Also, for this mod get the update mod under it (Wasteland Clothing HD V1-3 POWDERGANG FIX -IMPORTANT). Same process, but when you install this update it will detect the previous mod and ask you if you want to upgrade, click No. If you're asked to overwrite anything, click yes to all. Disable and re-enable Archive Invalidation.

You're to worried about conflicts. Most problems arise because people don't actually read the description and installation provided by the mod author or don't use Archive Invalidation.

If you use Project Nevada, this is the order I would install everything:
        • User Interface Organizer
        • Project Nevada (get the DLC patch. You will get the upgrade message when installing this, click No.)
        • The Mod Configuration Menu (MCM)
        • One HUD - oHUD

If you're asked to overwrite at anytime, click yes to all. Disable and re-enable Archive Invalidation.

If anything breaks, you can just uninstall PN, MCM, and One HUD (no need to uninstall UIO) then just reinstall MCM. Disable and re-enable Archive Invalidation.

Once you have everything installed, start a new game. I think you have to do this anyway for Project Nevada to work properly.

LOL! You're right I'm too worried about conflicts. It's just sometimes, to be perfectly honest, the mod author's directions on Nexus Mods are extremely simplistic. It's only during Gopher's Mod Tutorial series where I'll learn of a specific conflict (PN and MCM, for example). But it makes sense. These authors shouldn't be concerned with their hard earned add-on being compatible with the hundreds of thousands of other mod configurations out there.

I'll just trust that if something breaks, the steps to reverse them are usually pretty simple. Thanks for explaining that to me like you did in such detail.

I hadn't heard about needing to start a fresh game using Project Nevada so I'll probably just hold off on that. I've seen enough of Doc Mitchell and Sunny Smiles for awhile.

There's just so much cool stuff out there. Yesterday I heard about Bounties and A World Of Pain and I'm just so tempted to gobble it all up. LOL! The mod community is really incredible.

Thanks so much for having the patience to give me a hand. You should have seen me last night when my incredibly beautiful and smooth running FONV was running. I had chills. And I owe it all to you and Papernut.

I'll never forget the assistance you guys have given me so if you ever need anything from me, don't hesitate to ask.

            Happy to help.

Yeah, modding can be addictive. I probably spent close to 15 hours just messing around with mods for New Vegas. I was thinking about trying Skyrim again at some point (never finished it on console) and the amount of mods that game has is insane.

Have any of you guys played Fallout Dust?

I saw the trailer for it and I was like

I kind of would like to play it as like a separate entity in conjunction with my modded FONV playthrough (like one night regular modded FO, the next night Dust), but since it seems to be a total conversion (it seems to not play nice with hardly any mods) would something like that be possible without uninstalling all of my other mods/plugins? Like, can I have a mod load out one and a mod load out 2? Or two totally separate FONV that read completely different files?

Man, that interior lighting mod is ****ing awesome.

Just went to save Deputy Beagle and the flickering Nuka-Cola machines and just the overall darkness and atmosphere was genuinely pretty creepy.

Playing on Hardcore mode this time around and so far I love the feeling of having to scavenge. I really feel like I'm living off the land, trying to survive in the post apocalypse. Now with these mods, it FEELS like the post-apocalypse too.

                I couldn't be happier.

So the mod creator of Dust just told me what I want to do is possible, but only with Mod Organizer. Unfortunately, NMM doesn't have the option for seperate load orders.

I'm not too keen on learning a new organizer just yet, so I'll wait to start Dust after my initial modded FONV playthrough.

This has been a crash fest for me since switching to Windows 10. After about 15-20 minutes, the game will either crash to desktop or hard lock, forcing me to restart my PC. It's the only game giving me problems, but it's also the only one that's heavily modded.

I tried everything I could think of: verifying cache integrity, different compatibility modes, rolling back drivers and reinstalling the latest Nvidia Win 10 drivers, and using FNV Edit to check for mod conflicts.

Another option is to delete everything and start over, but with script extenders, mods that use scripts, and just how the engine works, it means my current saves will likely become broken.

You're not the only one. Over on Reddit, I'm reading numerous threads about Windows 10 having serious issues with previously installed game files, FNV included.

I initially read some really promising reviews on Windows 10 but decided to give it a few days to see the general consensus and by my count, it's not worth doing doing until you're "done" with the game.

I won't upgrade until I'm ready to move on (my next game will be ARMA 3, I think).

Let me see if I can find a decent thread on Windows 10 and FNV and I'll post it here if I find anything useful.

Ok so this guide isn't fool proof, and may need additional tweaking based on what you are using to play the game. This guide is just what i put together after spending about a week trying various methods. i would recommend checking out this thread and follow it , if it doesn't work feel free to come back here and try the method i found to work out.

hello I upgraded my os to windows 10 today and I found that enb doesn't work contrary to Skyrim, game works fine. I'm sure that it is have to do with recent upgrade, but I don't know how to fix this does anyone have same symptom and know how to fix? If there, I really appreciate.

Hello! First of all, I don't know if this damages somehow the built in DirectX 12 installation of Windows 10 but I think it doesn't and don't see the reason how it would for DirectX installers do check if components of the installations need to be updated and don't replace the whole installation....

Hopefully you can find some useful information in these links.
