Too bad I won't even be able to use Live at College in the fall. I hope I'll be able to find a way around there interent and get to use Live.

I hope that's true, I don't want to have to cancel it when Halo 2 is around the corner. I'll be living on campus in London, so I'm hoping it'll work there. I just remember a few people here having trouble getting Live to work at their College dorms.

The only thing that concerns me about this is, Microsoft may use this as a justification to charge a monthly fee that 'we' may find hard to swallow.

Yeah, as much as I love Xbox Live the initial appeal is starting to wear off and that $10 a month that had originaly been rumored to take over once the first year wears off is begining to sound pretty high, especially for something they say will have more costs for some downloadable content later on. Such as having to pay extra for levels and extras.

I don't think, if they want to keep selling it, that Microsoft can price the Starter Kit any higher than a game: $49.99. And even the recently announced Vol. 2 includes 1 year of XBL.

So, whatever their pricing scheme, it's can't be much more than $49.99 for a year of service. Otherwise, people will just cancel their account, and buy a starter to get another year of XBL. You'd lose your gamertag, but ...

10 bucks a month would be pretty high. I like XBL and its the first of its kind, but its still nothing truely inovatiive here.

Everything XBL does other games or computers have done before. XBL just puts it all together and makes it easy for anyone to use(not a bad thing).

Also many people talk about how FAST it is compared to PS2 online.. Well, I am 99.9% sure this is a BS argument. When you play games you should playing in a peer to peer mode. If we were playing XBL games in a client server mode then our lag would go up about 50% since there woudl be 1.5 times as many hops each way.

This is why when you are looking at your friends list on XBL, you don't see real time score updates. The people that are playing are just sending the xbox servers incramental updates. This is also why if you have 2 different people playing each other on your friends list, their times and scores don't match up. Their XBOX is just sending updates at a different interval.

                  Thats my (sqrt(16)/2) cents worth.
