Don't worry about the burn-in, Nivek. It's only gonna be an issue if you are playing like all day, every day.

All projection TV's "burn in" regardless of if you game on it or not. The problem is that if you pause a game or play one with static images for a long time it will make the phosphors burn unevenly.

This is also the case, like others have said, when you watch anything in 4:3 mode, in which case you will see the letterboxing bars on the sides and/or top and bottom of the screen. Since those bars are static (always there) too, they can burn in their image permanently.

For the amount of time it sounds like you will be playing games on it, you won't have any problems at all. Make sure you tell your folks to use the stretch mode when they watch most of the normal broadcast stuff, otherwise you will get burn in there. That is more of a concern than gaming on it.

Not to be the negative one, but burn-in is a very real problem and I urge you to pick up a copy of AVIA Home Theater Setup or Video Essentials and calibrate your set properly. TV's are generally sold with the contrast and brightness levels way too high and this greatly contributes to burn-in.

Another site to visit and gain knowledge about your tv is the Home Theater Spot! Check it out, calibrate your set, grab some component cables for your consoles and let her fly!

LCD's are capable of burn-in, but you would really have to run it through a severe torture test. The biggest issue with LCD's and LCD Panels are dead pixels. No a real big issue in my opinion though.
