What size room are we talking about here? W x H x L will help in determining the size of subwoofer you should go with and W X L will help for deciding on speaker size. You have a nice tv and there is no reason not to put a good sound system along with it.

I live in your typical "yuppy" Apartment's that look like townhouses community. Without getting the tape measure out, I'd say that my living room area is about 9 feet high, maybe 12 feet x 20 feet? Not a huge area, but we all plan on moving to a house someday.

That's why I'm planning to get a nice little "qaint" home theatre system and after the wife finishes her nursing degree and God blesses us with a nice big house, I'll go all out on the home theatre experience.

True, its always an option to buy now and then get something really nice later. Its just that with Speakers you really don't have major technological changes that often, so I'd rather just buy once.

Yeah, that is a good size room. In my opinion I think you'd be much happier going with a receiver and a set of speakers. I just don't think the Klipsch system will fill your room adequately, especially in the mid to low range. The major benefit to a system like this is that it allows you to upgrade individual components when you can afford to.

Based on your area, I'd take a ride down to Tweeter or any decent audio/video store (not Circuit City / Best Buy) and see what they can do for you. Their listed prices are MSRP, but they are very willing to negotiate, if you are serious about buying.I'm sure they would be willing to put together a little setup at your ideal price point.

In fact... here is a good system that someone put together for a little under a $1000

                          Receiver: Denon AVR-1603
                          Front Speakers: Paradigm Titan
                          Center: Paradigm CC-170
                          Rears: Paradigm ADP-10
Subwoofer: Sony SA-WM40 (a very good sub for the money)

Also, it is important to match speaker brand sans subwoofer, because the tweeters are usually the same and provide a consistent sound.

ok, I saw two different models of the 5.1 from Klipsch: The GX version and the Non Gx version. Whats the difference between the two. I noticed that the Non GX version were about $100 more. The satalight speakers on the GX version look kinda funny too. What about filling up a pretty decent size room with good clean sound too? What about playing movies with these things too with my DVD player? Thanks in advance for answering.

the non-GX version is a promedia w/ a digital decoder. so it has an external decoder for DTS and such, the GX version is their version for the consoles. Sadly it's not THX certified, but it does come w/ it's own decoder that decodes AC-3, and Pro-logic 2.
