    Where Winds Meet

I know it's kind of crickets around here, but I wanted to bring awareness to this upcoming game for two reasons.

Where Winds Meet is an upcoming Free to Play RPG from Everstone Studios, and despite being published by NetEase it does not have any P2W mechanics. The cash shop is purely cosmetic (as currently reported). I remember seeing it at one of the recent video game conventions (gamescon maybe?) and it looked interesting. I've seen a lot more about it recently though, and it almost seems too good to be true.

The game is set to release in November to PC and PS5

The first reason that I bring it up here is that it just seems to be an exciting blend of genres.

-It's a Chinese Wuxia setting with Wuxia style combat (which looks smooth in the videos that I have seen).
-I would call it a psuedo MMO. I think you will be encouraged to play with others for certain things, but from what I've seen it can be played entirely solo (you can switch from 'offline' to 'online' at any time).
-You have Grand Theft Auto levels of freedom (you can attack NPCs if you want, but if there is a witness then they will report it and you will get a "wanted level". If you kill the witness though then there is no crime).
-Because it is Wuxia there is a lot of freedom in how you traverse the landscape
-What looks to be a pretty in depth skill system
-One video reported that you can expect about 150 hours of content
    -Solid graphics and animations
-The open world is large with an expansive field of view
-The online components are interesting. There are separate game modes that you can queue into including: A 50 player Battle Royale, separate 5v5 and 30v30 team fights (I think I have the denominations right, but I didn't go back to verify).
-You can learn separate skills to make yourself capable of healing others. I don't mean that you are a healing class, I just mean that you have essentially a doctor subclass and if another player is injured then you perform a mini game to 'attack' their injury. For example, one streamer jumped from a very high building and when he landed he saw a pop up about having an ankle injury which is essentially a debuff for his run speed. He then went into the menu and saw that he had accumulated a number of small injuries during his time and there there is an option to post a bounty for a doctor to come heal you. The bounty is accepted by another player (who gets a bunch of rewards for taking it), they get teleported into his game and then they perform this mini game to heal you of all your debuffs.

The second reason that I really wanted to bring this game up is that it is the first game that I have seen that truly has an AI chatbot inside of the game for NPCs. When you talk to a NPC you are given a free form dialog box and you can have full conversations with that NPC. I saw some interesting conversations with the NPC reacting in ways that were relevant to the story, and it was just really interesting.

There are several early impression videos out there, but here is one from Luke Stephens.

Thanks for sharing! I decided to watch Lazy Peon's video on this to help familiarize myself. Here it is for others.

🏀The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

LazyPeon's video was really interesting. I find that I often times value other things in games than him. I have been following him for many years though, and I don't think that I've ever seen him together a Pros and Cons list that was so favorable.

The Wuxia combat and open-world freedom sound amazing, and the AI NPCs seem like a game-changer. Reading about the mini-games for healing other players reminded me a little of how geometry dash has hidden secrets and little challenges in each level—you really have to engage fully to get the best experience. Excited to see how this plays out!

In case this has fallen off anyone's radar.

This game is set to release this Friday 11/14/25. It's free to play, though I think if you go on the PS store it does show a "preorder" amount. That should go away when the game officially launches from what I understand.

There was a developer reveal last week that was co-hosted by LazyPeon. It does make me a little less trusting of his gameplay review from before, but every youtuber that I've seen who had early access has loved it.

            Re: Where Winds Meet

It's great that you're bringing attention to "Where Winds Meet"! The blend of Wuxia aesthetics with a pseudo MMO structure is intriguing, and it’s refreshing to hear that there are no pay-to-win mechanics. The freedom of gameplay—like the GTA-style witness system and the ability to switch between online and offline modes—adds layers of strategy and immersion. Plus, the extensive content and skill system promise a lot of depth for players.

The AI chatbot feature for NPCs is particularly noteworthy. Having free-form conversations with NPCs could significantly enhance player engagement and storytelling, setting it apart from many other games. It’s definitely something I’d love to see in more titles moving forward!

That injury system is actually genius. Posting a bounty for another player to heal you is such a cool social idea without forcing people into roles.

BTW, I'm more interested in the world than the PvP modes honestly. The battle royale stuff is whatever, but exploring that map looks super relaxing.
