still, some people are having quite the meltdown over the sequel already. I've even seen the cover photoshopped into a middle finger. There's a few months to build up the hype, but on almost every site I read E3 impression about this, people are bitching in the comments.

yeah, the steam forums are a mess right now.

I can kind of understand the complaints a little bit. I mean, Valve promised a lot of DLC (which would likely have been a lot more for the PC than 360) that doesn't appear to be coming anymore.

I personally would love it if they continued to release new content for Left 4 Dead even after the sequel comes out. I would still play the original, as well as the new one, often if new content was released. Hell, I'll probably continue to play the original anyway.

I agree with some of their views, especially on the PC side. This is just something Valve isn't known for. They usually go out of their way to do the exact opposite of this. Us console folks are used to fast sequels and yearly franchises, and even Team Fortress 2 gets shafted by Valve on the 360.

It just sucks seeing a company bail on a game so quickly. Moving resources and attention over to the development of a sequel explains why DLC was slow, and why they failed to deliver on much, or all, of their promises.

Would I rather have them drop all this as DLC (even possibly pay DLC) to the first?

Of course...but honestly, more L4D is good to me.

I don't get why people whine and complain about more of an awesome game. Yeah, it's not free, I know. It's kinda crazy to expect year after year of free crap for games IMO, how would they make money?
