Re: Planetside
I beta tested it, and got bored after a month. Lag was a pretty large problem, even late in the beta.
As for the gameplay, it's always:
1) Find Squad
2) Get in Galaxy
3) Fly to destination
4) Hot drop over target
5) Assault Base
6) Hack base
7) Wait 15 minutes so you can get experience points.
8) Repeat.
A lot of it is spent waiting around for your squad members to get a clue on what they want to go do, and all tech bases are alike. So, assaulting a base in one continent feels exactly like assaulting the same type of base in another continent.
I can't see playing it for very long, but it may be some people's cup of tea. I like FPS games, but their proclamations of this "persistent war" is sort of an exaggeration of "who controls the most towers or bases at any given time". Even earning experience points just lets you train in certifications. You don't get more hit points, get more accurate, or anything. You just get access to different weapons and vehicles with more battle rank.
Wasn't for me. -

It wouldn't be that bad if you didn't have to pay the monthly fee. That stinks.Comment
