I am not trying to be a *****, but it seems like games on consoles have limits. I am switching to PC. Has anyone else made the switch?

Graphics and consoles
Has anyone been getting less and less impressed off of console graphics the last few years. Gears of War 1 and 2 seem to have the best graphics to me. Do you think it's time for a PS4 and Xbox 720? lol.

No to all of your questions.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -

Re: Graphics and consoles
there wont be those systems with this economy just yet.
there are very beautiful games out that look nicer then gears of war for example i think mgs4 and uncharted, fight night, mass effect looked really nice and amazing.
i know the EA person said they havent fully used the ps3 graphics just yet....so just wait for 2010 really good games coming out for both systems better then this year IMO.Comment

That being said, I've been perfectly happy with the way graphics have developed and improved over the last few years for the ps3/360. And I think we're probably going to see decent improvements well into 2010. At that point the 360 will be 5 years old, and it won't really be realistic to expect more than subtle changes. Then before you know it it'll time for a new console to drop... I guess maybe in 2012. I don't think it's going to happen any sooner with the economy the way it is, that's for sure. Hell, is sony even making money off the ps3 yet? Now, more than everComment

Re: Graphics and consoles
I was thinking about this the other day. I like where next gen consoles are. I am content with the graphics, and what they can do. I am more interested in companies focusing on improving GAMEPLAY!
I DON'T want to see a new console for a long timeComment

Re: Graphics and consoles
I enjoy a game with great graphics as much as the next guy, but I really think things are fine the way that they are. With everything being optimized for HD these days, it's rare that you play a game that looks horrible. Then again I'm perfectly content with DVD's, while some people feel the need to replace their entire collection with Blu Ray.Comment

Re: Graphics and consoles
The graphics look fine to me. It's the gameplay that's been suffering as of late. So many games that look great, but don't really have any depth or gameplay to back it up.Comment

Re: Graphics and consoles
I'm still consistently blown away by how great the games look. Fight Night R4 is the most recent game I bought and I think it looks amazing.
We're 4 years into the life of the 360 and I'm still impressed. I don't think graphics are holding anything back right now. I'd like to see some improvements in gameplay.Comment

Re: Graphics and consoles
I'm very impressed, but at the same time I'm very spoiled with what we're given that it doesn't have the shock value that it used to have in days past.
Plus, there are a lot of times I end up passing screenshots off as nothing special because now they can be touched up and angled to exactly what they want. It's gameplay videos that get me off these days.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Graphics and consoles
I don't think switching to PC will help you that much. I think that in the past 20 years graphics have made massive jumps, but I think that we're starting to plateau a bit. We'll still have graphical improvements, but we'll never be "wowed" like we were going from PS1 to PS2, or Genesis/Super Nintendo to PS1. I think our expectations are very high, and while we'll have improvements I doubt we'll have any massive breakthroughs in the next few years.
What we will see increasing is this that require tons of processing power. Like Physics, Animations, and AI.
I wanna see a jump from PS1 to 360 type proportions in AI behavior. I think this is the biggest problem games have faced this gen. While graphics have improved 10x, the AI has remained mostly the same.Comment

Graphics in general are going to like you said "plateau" a bit. Reason being is graphics are improving at a slower rate.
