Re: Wet
I like the demo and Eliza well enough, but i don't think i'll buy the game new unless it comes out on a lower price point. As was said the graphics aren't that great (except that blood red area which was badass and quite fun)
if anything with all the other A+ games coming out this may have to take a backburner.Comment

Yah... played this for about 20 seconds and deleted it, lol.
WAY too repetitive, no way I could get through an entire game.Comment

Re: Wet
I liked the demo. Reminded me of a female version of Stranglehold with less moves.
The character looks weird up close, though. They should change that.Comment

Re: Wet
It's a Stranglehold game that actually has the right atmosphere/vibe -- I really felt Stranglehold felt off in that way. I wouldn't buy it, but I'll certainly snag it from Gamefly.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment

Re: Wet
For the first time in a while, I actually was in awe at a few of the action sequences (specifically the end one), and WTF at that part where the game did a load of crack and gave you a machine gun?Comment

I liked the demo. Felt like a Quentin Tarantino movie.
But, with all the games coming out, not a purchase until the price drops.Comment

Re: Wet
8.6 with editor's choice from Teamxbox
It's been some time since gamers have had an original female lead who has pushed the envelope of the action/shooter genre. Thanks to Bethesda Softworks and developer Artificial Mind & Movement (A2M), we now have such a character who not only comes along to stir things up, she does so without having to rely on sex appeal to get attention. Rubi Malone, Wet's protagonist, is a bad-***, gun-toting, sword-carrying, whiskey-drinking lady who has plenty of attitude and style to take the gaming industry by storm. Drop her in an over-the-top Tarentino/"Grindhouse"-inspired action/shooter, and you've got yourself one of 2009's most exciting releases.
Wet is a perfect blend of shooting and swordplay that lays on a thick layer of stylish acrobatics. Whether she's sliding upside down from a ladder with her twin pistols firing at multiple targets or slicing and dicing her way through an onslaught of enemies, Rubi is constantly keeping players' attention and dazzling their senses throughout the experience.
Just when you thought the third-person action/shooter genre was running thin on style, Wet has come along and shaken things up for the better. While the game may have quietly snuck up on many gamers' radar, it's poised to become a game to remember in 2009. Wet does a great job of blending various gameplay elements with a creative presentation that delivers an experience that many have attempted but few have successfully carried out. Rubi Malone has certainly made her mark in the gaming world as she positions herself at the top of our list of femme fatales of the year.
Gameplay 8.8
The action is intense and the seamless transition from real-time to slow-motion action will keep players at the edge of their seats. The ability to continually enhance and unlock new skills will keep Rubi's actions fresh throughout the game. Some frame-rate issues occur during the busiest of scenes, but it doesn't hinder the game's overall pace.
Graphics 8.5
Visually, the game's style matches the gameplay with plenty of elements that give it a unique look, which morphs a modern approach to a retro-inspired backdrop. It's not a graphical powerhouse, but the style does a lot to make up for its shortcomings.
Audio 9.0
The voice work is topnotch, thanks to such cast members as Eliza Dushku and Malcolm McDowell, whose performances really help make their characters who they are in ways others couldn't have. The soundtrack and sound effects give players the impression they are playing their way through a best-of list of '70s martial-arts films.
Longevity 8.0
There's plenty of action to keep even the most seasoned gamers busy long enough to get their money's worth. A nice mix of gameplay scenes will keep the experience exciting from start to finish. Some of the training levels are a little tedious, but they do prove useful for those wanting to make the most of Rubi's abilities.
Innovation 8.5
We've come to expect certain things from the third-person shooter genre, but A2M has succeeded in surprising us with their creativity. The variety of gameplay elements that make up Wet help make it a standout release for 2009 and it's sure to raise the bar for those that follow.
Overall 8.6Comment

Re: Wet
Surprising. I wasn't expecting anything over 7's or C grades. I liked the demo but was holding out for other games. If more reviews are that positive i may move it up my Do Want queue.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: Wet
I loved the demo and ordered this game today. Should hopefully arrive by Friday.
I have read how many (reviews and other comments at other sites) complain the game is repetitive,.....umm, what action based game isn't? Every single FPS is the exact same thing as are 3rd person shooters and other action games, this is of course if one is strictly talking about single player/campaign modes.
It annoys me how so many are biased with their criteria but seemingly that is the way humans wish to be. Take how so many trashed Rainbow Six Vegas 2 saying it wasn't much different than Vegas 1 yet these same people will squirt over Halo 3 which to me is just a re-hash of the first two Halos adding nothing at all to the gameplay. Same with the Call of Duty games. Modern Warfare 2 looks like it'll almost be a carbon copy of 1 yet bam, you know it'll get praised out the ying-yang.
People who are biased bug me.Last edited by steveo; 09-15-2009, 03:43 PM.Comment

Re: Wet
Speaking of exactly that thing whlie reading the IGN review (the normal one) I was thinking the same stuff they were complaining about this could be applied to Halo 3 wich got a 9 something.
Here's the normal one with a 6.6: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/102/1024648p1.html
Then the much better written but not that much better scored AU one with a 7.4: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/102/1024673p1.html
3.5/5 from Gamepro but they go on about it for 3 pages: http://www.gamepro.com/article/reviews/212073/wet-360/
B- from 1up: http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId...=4&sec=REVIEWS
I only played it a very little bit so far but loved when...
Spoilerafter the first demo part it goes to an ad like you're watching a movie in a theatre and tells you to go to the concession stand.Comment
