The Pokemon Thread

So about an hour into the game, I've got a team that looks something like this:

Lvl 13 Treecko
Lvl 13 Poocheyena (not gonna be around much longer)
Lvl 6 Tailow

The coolest thing they've added that I see so far: there's a chance a pokemon will spawn in the grass with part of it sticking out and shaking (think like the shaking grass from Black and White.) You can sneak up to them by lightly pushing on the circle pad and they are typically stronger/rarer than usual and can have rare or interesting moves on them.

Example: I caught a Surskit with Fell Stinger on it (for those who don't know, this is an egg move only for Surskit, as far as I can tell)

The egg move thing is amazing. Such an awesome change.

Don't forget to get your Mystery Gift via the Internet option in that menu. You'll enjoy it.

I don't know if I mentioned this during X/Y or not, but the most amazing thing to me still is how much my enjoyment is renewed by the "3D" battles, not using sprites anymore. I just like seeing the Pokemon now and catching them during the game.

Wurmple? **** yes you got a spot on my team until I replace you. Zigzagoon? You're welcome too, damnit. Wingull? I don't need another water Pokemon but you're traveling with me whether you like it or not.

Is it possible to play a Japanese version of the game on a US 3DS ?

I've searched the internet, but can't find a legitemate source. They don't have the game on base and I don't want to purchase a new card so I have space to download. I don't play many 3DS games.

They have the games at the Toys R Us in town. Anyone seen a language option ?

There was a language option on the US version as soon as you start up the game, before the intro. Can't say for sure if that's the case for the Japanese one, but it was definitely on ours.

I'd give it a shot.

Picked up an Omega Ruby, not to far into it only just past the 2nd Gym but from what I can tell differences from X/Y:

-Slightly better textures, character models, battle sprites.

-New catching mechanic, of sneaking up on certain Pokemon that pop up on the overworld, by sneaking up on them. (kind of gimmicky but you can get some different Pokemon exclusive to certain areas with different moves)

- New gear, Pokenav. Usable with the bottom 3DS screen, detailed map, shows what Pokemon are available in specific areas, gives you a news report on what is going on the region, and a tracker to see if certain trainers you have already beaten want to rematch.

And this is a remake of the Gameboy Advanced Sapphire,Ruby, Emerald games so the Hoenn region will be familar to those that played those; but there are a lot of updated, areas of old locales without going into depth the Cave in the 2nd town has been reworked, and the Gyms have all new layouts.

So Nintendo announced today during their latest Nintendo Direct that they're re-releasing Pokemon Blue, Red and Yellow on 3DS in February. That's something I never thought they would do but I don't think I'll be buying. I'll stick to the originals that I still own:



My only fear is that Nintendo doesn't remove any sort of bugs or glitches that were found in the original game. Especially the Missingno glitch. Gosh, I abused that so much as a kid haha.

Is the Virtual Console the same as eShop? I read on Gamespot that the games are releasing on the eShop.
