      Re: The Pokemon Thread

Hmm. I downloaded and gave it a 2 minute go. I don't get it. You just walk around to where a Pokemon shows on the map and throw a ball at it is that it?

What's exactly is the goal? And is there more to the premise than just walking to a spot that is showing a Pokemon on the map?

Quick story --- I was with my sister and her kids playing at the park; I literally saw a group of parents at the park (approx 6-10) walking around on their damn phones, while their kids were playing...

        Wake up world...

Get off your damn phones and spend time playing with your kids before they grow up and want nothing to do with you because they're grown up...STOP with the games at the dinner table and spend time talking about your day rather than chasing virtual things...smh

I mean, I'm all for fun (heck, I'm a gamer), but I see this world as just separating from our human-2-human interaction due to these sorts of things and I just pray people continue to 'converse' rather than rely on tech so darn much.

I know I'm going to get a lot of people who disagree with me, but just seeing those parents not spending time with their kids urked me a bit...

          Have to admit....
I caught one under our coat rack today.

Figured I'd see what the fuss was about.
Couldn't believe the amount of people I seen today in town and in our development walking around obviously hunting Pokemon.

This Pokemon GO fad honestly got me interested in buying Pokemon Sun/Moon this Fall. I haven't played one since Diamond/Pearl (meaning I have no experience with Fairy types) and I really don't mind how stupid some of the Pokemon look.

It's gotten me interested again too, though I doubt I'll drop the money to buy whatever system those games even run on nowadays. Might look into picking up one of the older games or something though.

I am seeing an abnormal amount of cars pulling off to the side of the road in random places. I have a theory that this is the culprit. Just today I saw one on each side of the road in the middle of nowhere, one was outside of their car with their phone.

Better that they at least pulled off to the side.

I like the concept of the game and getting some of the younger kids and frankly some adults out of the house and moving but there are some constraints that they need to add to the app. First and foremost it needs to shut off completely (or at least remove the ability to see spawned pokemon) if it registers your gps at moving at greater than 10mph.

                            What about passengers in cars?

Collateral damage. I've seen some seriously dangerous stuff from people who's brains just go into neutral because of this game. People stopping in the middle of the road, damn near killing pedestrians (some staring at their phones probably playing as well) among many other situations. As bad as texting while driving was this is ten times worse. Maybe after the initial craze dies down people will be more responsible but right now people are just losing their damn minds over it and if people being inconvenienced at not being able to play while riding in a car eliminates the hazard of morons behind the wheel then I'd say it's a necessary evil. And as a person that hates being constrained and not able to make my own decisions because of the stupidity of a few I don't like having that opinion but things are going to go very badly with the way people are abusing this right now.

As someone with around 24 hours of being a passenger in a car over a weekend coming up, I condemn this post
