DeathSpank Sequel "Thongs of Virtue" Coming in September

Rumors of a Deathspank sequel were proven true today, as Hothead took the wraps off of Deathspank: Thongs of Virtue. Kotaku reports that the sequel was actually developed alongside the recent game, which makes it due shockingly soon: September 21 on PlayStation Network, and the next day for Xbox Live Arcade. It will cost $15 or 1200 Microsoft Points, just like the first.

Thongs of Virtue is said to be 50% longer than the first game, and include new settings like the North Pole. Hothead is promising "more adventure and puzzle questing" in this game, along with more Ron-Gilbert-injected humor revolving around six mystical thongs. Though the game is a sequel to the original DeathSpank, Hothead claims it's not necessary to have played the first game to understand the humor.

Unfortunately, since the two games were developed simultaneously, Hothead hasn't made tweaks based on fan feedback. Online multiplayer isn't being included, and players of the first game won't see a stat bump for their efforts. Fans wishing for a PC version may also be disappointed that Hothead is focusing its efforts on the console titles, though the possibility of a third DeathSpank game appearing on PC is still in the cards.

I literally made a mess myself when I saw that article earlier. I had thought they weren't going to do it as I seem to remember them moving on, but I was wrong, which is ****ing awesome.

So basically whether we dropped $15 on the first or not doesn't matter. Dunno, I guess I can understand that, but would have been nice to have it scale across both games somehow.
