Squad Based: Probably Graw/Graw 2. (Fun OS moments)
RTS: Hmm, I always liked the C&C series. Also Company of heroes was amazing!

Socom 2 IMHO is head and shoulders above everything else on the list, it was so far advanced for its time and played so well, if they would have kept to the that theme and Sony would have pushed that series it would have been far greater and better off than it is currently.
And this comes from a big CoD player.Comment

America's Army for PC was one of my all-time favorites. I was a founder of the {SARs} clan and all we did was joke when we were dead. I think some of the conversations were classic as we waited for the next round.Comment

Socom 2 for me. I've never had so much fun playing a shooter online until that game came along. I could play that game 24/7 back in the day and never get tired of it. Being tactical with a good clan in a clan war was the best for me.Seattle Pilots GM (2011 - ) Record: 152 - 195

I voted for Rainbow 6. love the RB series. really loved it back when(the original on PC and #2 I believe) it was an actual tactical shooter where you could actually plan out your attack before hand.
I also loved Ages of Empires 2 as well as the expansion for it The Conquerors, played that game almost exclusively for 2 years. still my favorite RTS game to date. follow by the original C&C Red Alert.
I love the Battlefield series on the PC. don't really like the console versions. BF2 saw a ton of play time from me, still play it from time to time. one of the best online games I've played on PC.
before that, the older Medal of Honor games on PC. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and it's expansion packs mainly. great campaign mode and great online multiplayer. the Omaha Beach level was awesome.
the Civilization series is also good, one of the best turn based strategy games. the Total War series is also right up there for strategy games. love the combat in Total War, puts even more strategy in your hands.Comment
