For Those Too Busy/Can't Afford To Play Everything...
There seem to be so many great games coming out there days, but it can be difficult to find the time or money to play all of them. Working full-time and going to graduate school (not to mention everything else life throws at you) can eat into your gaming/recreation time. So how do you guys decide which games to spend your money on? Do you stick with games in your favorite genre, or do you look at reviews and decide to buy only the best-rated games? Is there another strategy that you use? Gamefly perhaps? Let's hear it...New Jersey Devils- 1995, 2000, 2003
New York Giants- 1927, 1934, 1938, 1956, 1986, 1990, 2007.

Re: For Those Too Busy/Can't Afford To Play Everything...
My strategy is that I wait till the price of a game drops before I buy it. With sports games this is harder for me to do because the season/what sport is on tv plays a big factor in what sport game I play, but for other games I usually wait till I can get a good deal on a game.
If I can get a game or two on the cheap I don't feel as bad if I leave it on the side for awhile or don't play it as much. Oh to be young again and have countless hours of free time.Go Yankees
Go Rangers
Go Giants

Know what you mean man.. it's hard to buy games back to back to back....
I actually put them all down in order of release. Then I rank them as far as interest level. I try and make sure I don't have game after game as there's no way I can spend that kind on $ back to back as more important things come first (mortgage, car - basically "life" things.)
So I buy the ones that interest me the most and when I'm ready to move on ,the other ones i wanted are usually used by then.Joshua:

Even on new games, sales can be found. NHL and MW2 I ordered on the recent Bestbuy sale. NBA is paid for with trade ins.Comment

Same here. Except for a few sports games and top shelf live games. This fall its just NHL 10, NBA 2K10 and CODMW2. Maybe Operation Flashpoint, depending on reviews.

Though I did get Command and Conquer when it first eleased because I had been wanting some next gen RTS badly.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Re: For Those Too Busy/Can't Afford To Play Everything...
I usually pick games that i want, then i order them by how much playtime i'll get out of it. example my DO WANT list currently includes:
COD MW2
Wet
DiRT 2
Assassin's Creed 2
Uncharted 2
NBA 2k10 (or live 10 i haven't decided)
Ninja Gaiden 2 sigma or whatever the ps3 version is called
of those i know i'll play MW 2 most so thats what i'm waiting on. The rest i'll probably used bin them.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: For Those Too Busy/Can't Afford To Play Everything...
I'm honestly not a huge fan of Gamefly because it makes me feel weird not buying something like a game (I don't rent movies etc. for the most part), but I have kind of accepted the fact that I can't buy everything. So sometimes I will buy games through Gamefly (they are cheaper that route), and I also have a 3-game-at-a-time membership through Gamefly. Generally I will rent the games I don't think I would buy, or am relatively on the fence about (right now I have Wet, Marvel and Batman out), otherwise I just buy everything.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment

Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: For Those Too Busy/Can't Afford To Play Everything...
I just go ahead and buy them anyway wich has resulted in a bunch of unfinished games. Though sometimes if I hear a game is short I'll rent instead and feel motivated to play through it because there's a time limit. Backfired on Velvet Assassin though since I ended up not finishing it.Comment

Re: For Those Too Busy/Can't Afford To Play Everything...
I use to rent a ton of games, but now I only buy games, and only the ones I really, really want. There are a lot of good to great games that I simply end up never playing. Sports and RPG's take precedent for me, along with certain developers like Bioware and Obsidian.
I haven't played either Gears of War games, any Call of Duty games, or a boat load of other top games. I miss out on a lot of great games, but when I do buy a game, 99 times out of 100 I end up really loving the game.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment
