    action replay for the ps2

how exactly does this work? does it come with a memory card which is attached to a ps2 cord which attaches to the computer?

is it stable, have people had problems with it in the past?

The PS2 Action Replaty is a cheat code device, like the old Gameshark. It is a wierdly shaped memory card, and a disk that gets loaded in the PS2.

The PS2 X-Port (which is what I think you're actually asking about) is like the old Sharkport, and allows you to move files back and forth between your memory card and your PC. Like rosters, for example. It is some software for your Windows-based PC, a disk for your PS2, a length of USB cable with a "dongle" in the middle. You boot up the PS2 with the disk, start up the software on your PC, and connet the two with the USB cable. Then just drag and drop.

I've used both the Sharkport and the X-Port, and once I had the correct version of the PS2 disc, I haven't had a single problem.

Does the X-Port still require you to bring your PS2 to your PC like the Sharkport? Or is it designed more like the Xbox Action Replay where all you need is to bring a Memory Card and plug it into an adapter?

The X-Port is just like the Sharkport - one long(ish) USB Cable. So your PC and PS2 will need to be in the same room when transferring files.

Fossen, what do you mean the correct version of the CD? I got Sharkport and havent been able to get it to work. It's the PS2 CD that won't work. Neither will most of my blue-bottomed games so I'm thinking of sending my PS2 into Sony and not being able to play NCAA Football 2004 when it comes out!

Certain versions of the Sharkport PS2 CD will not work with newer revisions of the PS2 hardware. When I originally bought my Sharkport, this was the case for me.

I called InterAct, and after a few tries finally got a newer version of the PS2 disc that worked just fine. However, it was still a blue-bottomed CD ... so if your PS2 isn't reading any games on CD, this may not be the problem you're having.
