I've heard the term "gone gold" thrown around a lot, but I've never gotten a true definition. Do you know what it means exactly?

Going "gold" is a software industry term for when a project is finished. When a game goes gold no more changes are going to be made. More or less, all that needs to be done then is duplication, packaging, and shipping.

exactly, and it takes a minimum of 1-2 weeks for the game to be distributed to retailers. Let's say KOTOR goes gold tommorrow, july 9th. It would take about 2 weeks for theg ame to be ready to ship to stores. Therefore the july 15th release date is impossible to hit. Plus, gamespot just previewed the games latest copy that was close to finished. They said the game was suffering from framerate problems, and needed an extra level of polish. So, maybe it is for the better that this game is delayed and perfected. My release prediction- Mid to late August.
