    New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Does anyone plan on getting it?
My local mom & pop has it in stock and i was thinking on it.
My girlfriend and I like to get game time together for fun here and there and this looks like it will fit the bill.

Is this just a rehash of the DS game I used to play with my kid? Nintendo really loves to milk Mario for all it's worth but I guess it will be a good Xmas present for him.

Looks like a totally new game with 4 player capability.

Is this the LBP-style Mario game?

I don't own a Wii, but I want to check it out and see if it does things right, if that makes sense.

              heres a tidbit from IGN

New Super Mario Bros. Wii isn't a port of the DS game but it certainly has the DS game to thank for a lot of its production. The game brings back the classic platformer gameplay of the 8 and 16-bit designs of Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario World, and -- like the Nintendo DS game --introduces new gameplay mechanics that just wouldn't have been possible on the gaming hardware back in the day. You're going to get platforms that tilt and sway, cloud mists that obscure the levels, areas that are quite literally infested with dozens of enemies, and sizeable bosses that take up nearly the entire screen.

                1UP Review - A+

Ultimately, though, the greatest compliment you can pay NSMB Wii is that it feels like the perfect expression of the classic Mario style: It's the true sequel to Super Mario World we've been clamoring for all these years.

See, the funny thing about Mario World is that, despite my callow dismissal of the game back in the day, I played it. I beat the game, and then I completed the Star Road, and then I unlocked all 96 exits, and then I beat it again in the remixed mode. As the years go by, I appreciate more and more just how great a game Mario World truly was... and NSMB Wii improves on it in every way. For every developer or publisher who's ever dreamed of pushing beyond the demographic limitations of "hardcore" or "casual" gamers, here is how you do it. And were that universal appeal NSMB Wii's sole achievement, it would be one of the most important games in recent memory. But, no: It's also ridiculously fun.
Kotaku - Go Buy A Wii

There's really no reason not to buy this game. Despite my time constraints, despite the urgency I felt in needing to complete the game, New Super Mario Bros. Wii was a pleasure to experience from opening screen to post-credits punchline. The fact that it also happens to be the showcase for a new way of helping gamers experience and enjoy a title can almost get lost in the mix. But it shouldn't. The Super Guide, and the ability to unlock video hints inside the title will most definitely change the way we all play games eventually, no matter the system we play them on.

I haven't had this much goodhearted, simple fun on a video game console since my days playing the original Super Mario Bros. snowed in at my house in Maryland. Sure, a lot of what makes a game like New Super Mario Bros. Wii so much fun for someone like me to play is the nostalgia factor. But there's more to it than that. This is a delightful game, one that delivers a lasting and challenging experience without making you feel like you need to learn how to walk again. If Nintendo still needed a reason for people to buy a Wii, this is the ultimate argument winner.

Re: New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Wow, sounds good and this 4 player will make it fun for me and my son to play a video game together again as Galaxy was not really a 2 player game and Kart and Brawl got boring fast for both of us. There's one easy present to add to the Xmas list.

I got my son a Wii for Christmas this year and am def. going to get this game for him as well. He loves his DS Mario games, and looking at this one, it seems like a no brainer for me to grab this one -

I picked this up yesterday and it's definitely good. I haven't had much time to play it yet seeing as how I also got Left 4 Dead 2, but from what I've played so far it's a lot of fun. I got to use the one of the new suits, I think it's called the Propeller Suit, which is pretty cool. Didn't get to try the Penguin Suit yet, I just started the second world so I'm sure it will come up soon.
