First song was revealed by the band's guitarist...

Rockers of the classic '80s band Tesla claim to be included in the yet-to-be announced (but you totally saw it coming) Guitar Hero 6. In an interview with Brave Words & Blood Knuckles, guitarist Dave Rude revealed "Modern Day Cowboy" -- from the band's 1986 debut album Mechanical Resonance -- will be included in the music title. Rude noted the song was one of three suggestions the band made to Activision when they were pursued to be included.

While some (completely talentless) acts have decried the popularity of music games such as Guitar Hero, Rude feels the genre is an important step for up-and-coming rockers. "I think it's a good thing," Rude said. "Even if people don't learn to play guitar, it's exposing them to all sorts of cool guitar-based music that they wouldn't have ever heard otherwise."

All I ask is that somebody breathe some life into this genre which is getting really stale. I don't have any compelling reason to get any GH game over RB2 which set the standard for the genre IMO. Hopefully Activision realizes this and adds something new rather than just releasing another rehash...?

Dave Mustaine says Headcrusher will be in a brand new game after mentioning Guitar Hero 5.

Tesla is a nice addition, but I just hope we don't have more band specialty games in 2010. They should really think of releasing Guitar Hero franchise now in late Spring and then use Band Hero as their fall release. Having both games released within 2 months of each other is foolish.

They already said there'd be less. Besides there's not really another that should have their own game that would actually lisence their stuff.

This genre is quickly going downhill. There needs to be major innovation in the genre before I'll ever consider another game. I don't understand why 100% of this cannot be dealt with via DLC at this point. It's just a new track-list...

Well for RB fans, this would at least be cheaper than DLC (if you got say 80 songs for $60 instead of 80 songs for $160). Of course, maybe you wouldn't choose every song, but hey.

I get what you're saying, though. The fact that they're advertising it like this left and right (and releasing these strange installments along with it) makes it beyond annoying.
