    Re: Guitar Hero 6

    Intresting article here: http://www.develop-online.net/news/3...race-for-sales

Guitar Hero project director Brian Bright (pictured) described the mood at Neversoft in the last two years – a period which saw the team chase fame in the face of Rock Band, its nearest competitor, as well as ensure the release of four Guitar Hero games in the space of a year.

“With Guitar Hero World Tour [2008] we kind of lost our souls a bit,” he tells Develop.

“We lost that spark by trying to cater to everyone. We were in this arms race with our competitor [Rock Band 2], and in the end I felt like we sold a bit of our souls”.

After the success of Guitar Hero World Tour, Neversoft was told to finish work on three other games in the next year – Band Hero, Guitar Hero Metallica, and Guitar Hero 5. At the same time, the group also had to support two other studios that were working on various Guitar Hero spin-offs with older technology.

“That definitely took our focus, everyone had split,” Bright said.

“We did make quite a few games last year, and if you count up the sales of all of them it was close to how well World Tour sold. But the release of all those games split the marketing team’s focus, it split our studio’s focus”.
Also in regards to another comment later in the article a majority/core is OVER 50% so 40% isn't a core.

          Re: Guitar Hero 6

Yah that's it...not the Metallica box in the middle.

          Anyway...

So I'm sure you've mentally schemed on how you would handle a Led Zeppelin game, not blowing your load of most of the catalog in a single release.

That's the thing; you don't want it to become a stale product where it's too orderly, "This is Led Zeppelin I, this is Led Zeppelin II." You don't want the consumer to think "Oh sweet, it's a Led Zeppelin game, but that's all that it is." I don't know if that's enough now. You might have to do more than that.

I personally would want to make something new, some kind of new concept using Led Zeppelin's old content. It really can't be the old concept of "Ok, here's the game with the songs, and here's the highway with the notes." It'll be interesting to see where the genre takes all of us in a couple years. I don't think you're gonna see the same thing in a year or two. It's not gonna be the same format.

well being able to import songs from GH Metallica is big, as it would never happen in the Beatles game. RB3 still has my heart, and laps the **** out of guitar hero at this point, but this new GH still looks like it would be a decent pickup. Plus I think drums in Guitar Hero is still better than RB.

              Another song trailer:

              <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/afgoJg8QmMY?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;color1=0xe1600f& amp;color2=0xfebd01"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/afgoJg8QmMY?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;color1=0xe1600f& amp;color2=0xfebd01" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

The first 2 songs look really messy. I can't even read the Megadeth chart.
1:00-1:10 does a fine job of displaying one of the vox problems.
Sounds like Keep on Rockin' in the Free World is a live version even though it's not noted as such.
Modern Day Cowboy looks pretty fun.

Bold is what I'm excited for which isn't much, and with the crossovers between the setlists it's nothing to be excited about (FOR ME)

Outside of Money for Nothing that is the only I MUST HAVE IT song on the setlist.

Should be a demo soon. There was a 3 song demo in the MS booth at Gamescon with Children of the Grave,Black Rain & Bat Country.

Yeah, I can't stand the stupid looking character models from this game..........I hope that we can create life like looking band members like in GH5.

I like Judy, the new guy and Johnny's transformations. The rest not so much.
I haven't even seen anything about creating your own character/band. All I hear is quickplay+ and character powers. Logically it'd be there, just saying I haven't heard/read anything about it at all.
