    Re: Guitar Hero 6

Still no console DLC announcement yet but the iPhone got an Animals pack with House of the Rising Sun,We've Gotta Get Out of This Place and It's My Life. Can only hope that's with the Sept. DLC for the console.

It's been confirmed that Money for Nothing is the radio edit and will be missing the second verse.

      Re: Guitar Hero 6

This weeks DLC saw an increase in output providing SIX! songs. Unfortuantly 4 of them are already in RB (or 3 and a half). Though this does mean between this week and the 28th that's 17 songs which is more than the usual 12 per month in just 2 weeks. A big improvement. The other 2 weeks haven't been announced but this week is...

      Rock Pack 1
The Dope Show by Marylin Manson
**** by Faith No More (I see that word is still censored)
      I Stand Alone by Godsmack
Last Resort by Papa Roach (this is where the 3 and a half comes from as this is the popular version instead of that mess RB got)
      Blue Monday by Orgy
      Nookie by Limp Bizkit

Also the demo is up. I can't try it because I'm silver so no impressions but I hear they managed to fix the vocals.

Played the demo yesterday... really liked how the game rewinds the track when you pause the game instead of just dropping you right back into the song like in RB2.

          Today's DLC is...aboslutely nothing.

In better news the GH Metallica export has been confirmed,39 of 49 songs will export for $6 OR if you buy a new copy before October 5th you can export for free.

          All Metallica tracks +

          • Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band – “Turn The Page (Live)”
          • Diamond Head – “Am I Evil?”
          • Kyuss – “Demon Cleaner”
          • Lynyrd Skynyrd – “Tuesday’s Gone”
          • Machine Head – “Beautiful Mourning”
          • Mastodon – “Blood & Thunder”
          • Mercyful Fate – “Evil”
          • Motörhead – “Ace Of Spades”
          • Samhain – “Mother Of Mercy”
          • Social Distortion – “Mommy’s Little Monster (Live)”
          • The Sword – “The Black River”
          • Thin Lizzy – “The Boys Are Back In Town”

Disapointed there's no Stone Cold Crazy,Albatross or No Excuses but the others that aren't there I could do without anyway.

Played the demo today. Looks like guitar is back to the awful GH III mess but on the brightside vox are now at least better than Singstar/Lips. With no options for mic volume/sensitivity in the demo I'm not sure how good they are exactly (don't seem on par with RB Beatles/Green Day/3...maybe up to RB 1) but it is a significant improvement over what it's been, they don't feel broken anymore at least but like I said no options plus the dot is still bad. Oddly enough despite the guitar charts the bass ones seem fine but no hyperspeed made them a bit awkward.

This is good news and if you buy the game before 10/5..........it says that you get the free Metallica export. I still kept my manual from Metallica. I just hope you can design real looking band members in this like in GH5........I hate the creepy art style they currently have.

            • Metallica – “Battery”
            • Metallica – “Creeping Death”
            • Metallica – “Disposable Heroes”
            • Metallica – “Dyers Eve”
            • Metallica – “Enter Sandman”
            • Metallica – “Fade To Black”
            • Metallica – “Fight Fire With Fire”
            • Metallica – “For Whom The Bell Tolls”
            • Metallica – “Frantic”
            • Metallica – “Fuel”
            • Metallica – “Hit The Lights”
            • Metallica – “King Nothing”
            • Metallica – “Master Of Puppets”
            • Metallica – “Mercyful Fate”
            • Metallica – “No Leaf Clover”
            • Metallica – “Nothing Else Matters”
            • Metallica – “One”
            • Metallica – “Orion”
            • Metallica – “Sad But True”
            • Metallica – “Seek And Destroy”
            • Metallica – “The Memory Remains”
            • Metallica – “The Shortest Straw”
            • Metallica – “The Thing That Should Not Be”
            • Metallica – “The Unforgiven”
            • Metallica – “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)”
            • Metallica – “Wherever I May Roam”
            • Metallica – “Whiplash”

Plus these songs from Metallica’s favorite artists are included in the import as well:

            • Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band – “Turn The Page (Live)”
            • Diamond Head – “Am I Evil?”
            • Kyuss – “Demon Cleaner”
            • Lynyrd Skynyrd – “Tuesday’s Gone”

                  Re: Guitar Hero 6

Watching a stream it looks like all this random flailing solo rubbish that people consider good for some reason and awful GH III overcharting was made up for with what might be a massive timing window though it could just be stream lag, wasn't overly large in the demo far as I could tell but it looks like it now.

These later songs look like even bigger messes than I thought they'd be.

They keep putting Dragonforce in these but every single song of theirs sounds the same. One was enough.

I got it (rental),just on the condition that I wouldn't go online with it until tuesday so it's not gonna show up on my card.

Great improvement to sorting. Instead of having to hold the yellow button and scroll through everything it brings up a menu to go directly to the letter/game/whatever. They also have icons next to them to indicate what game they're from. Not seeing an option to block out the music maker tracks anymore though, there's 5 by default. Not a big deal, just a preference.

Challenges either got a lot better or a lot worse. There's some for every instrument now per song but I don't know if they all have the same unlock or you'd have to play something on all 4 to get things.

Crowd sing-a-longs seem to be gone for some reason.

                        Re: Guitar Hero 6

The second verse is cut out. Looking it up...

                        8:26 (full-length)
                        7:04 (vinyl LP edit)
                        4:38 (official single edit)
                        4:05 (promo single edit)

...but the version in this is listed at 5:37 so I'm not sure where it's from or what it is. One verse wouldn't make up for nearly 3 minutes?

They have Orianthi's guitar in there but none of her songs. Oh there it is! It was near the bottom.

Blocking out the GHtunes option was under display options after picking a song.

                          Re: Guitar Hero 6

Well I'm not under a review embargo.

Challenges are improved. I get what's going on there now. You don't unlock things directly through the challenges anymore so it's much more open and if you don't play a certian instrument or in a fulll band you won't miss out on anything because of that. Ranks are back, challenges translate into extra stars and the stars count towards the ranks. Thus by virtue of having a ton of songs I'll get just about everything naturally. A lot of it is unlocked just by doing quest as well. Just because your fav character wasn't a part of the quest doesn't mean they aren't there. I unlocked Eddie from this so maybe the others are still there too.

Vocals are still a bit off and still have a few problems but are easily the best they've been in a GH game. The ball isn't jumping all over the place anymore but there's still magic teleporting going on and the presentation of the chart/even using the ball still isn't very helpful. At least it's better than Singstar/Lips now. Still needs a bbbbiiiiitttt of work but they're playable.

The game doesn't default to party play now. You'll go to a menu first. If you let it sit there for a bit (or hit yellow) it'll go to party play.

There's not a lot new in character creator in terms of outfits, about 5 things each for male and female I think. That was rather disapointing. Looks like there's a lot of new guitars/bass' but not much for drums or mics/stands. One of the swords from WoW is a guitar/bass option. I don't play WoW but I reconize the reference from it also being in a hidden area in that Wolverine game.

Venues. Oi! The problem with these is while they're not awful or anything they're allllllll metal/dark/goth themed execpt for CBGB's which is(/was ) of course a real life venue for punk. Not exactly anywhere to play Band Hero songs or even a lot of the GH 5/WT songs. Lips of an Angel on a giant robot in a pile of lava just isn't right. Neither is Sublime in a goth club. Taylor Swift song at the gates of hell anyone? No,didn't think so. For that matter stuff on disc already like How You Remind Me and Dance,Dance. It's all well and good for Motorhead and Black Sabbath but where are CCR,No Doubt,Nirvana and Deep Purple supposed to play? The closest to normal is Echo's rooftop stage. There's no basic rock venue or a pop venue or anything like that so a lot of songs just feel awkward. There is one locked venue that's only unlocked at rank 40,I would guess it's the hypersphere. Also unlocked the wormhole venue early on.

Now for quest mode...(copy and pasting from someones list so don't complain about the song and band being backwards )

One note first. You don't get the FC star in quest mode. If you FC a song and finish with 7 stars you don't get a bonus one for #8. You do get it in quickplay mode though. The extra stars come from the powers in quest. It's actually possible to FC a song and NOT get the 40 once you have the max power guitar.

                          Johnny
1.What do I get - Buzzcocks: This one was pretty fun.

2.We're Not Gonna Take it - Twisted Sister: I love this song but this version was a re-record from 2004 or 2005 so wasn't quite as good. Still good though.

3.Cherry Bomb - The Runaways: Also a re-record. Better than the one in RB I guess.

4.Self Esteem - The Offspring: Was a lot better in RB.

5.Motivation - Sum 41: Meh. Didn't like the song. Wasn't much fun to play either.

6.Re-Ignition (Live) - Bad Brains: This was all kinds of awesome. Live is better than re-record.

                          8. Black Rain - Sound Garden: Pretty solid. Good fun.

                          9. Theme from Spiderman - The Ramones: Good. Bit tricky with the sustians though.

                          6/9
                          Good start.

At this point I realized you don't need to play all the songs to advance and it's required to re-play all of these and get 40 stars to offically 100% quest mode anyway so I skipped a few that I knew I didn't like from listening to them or previously having played them in RB.

                          Echo
1.Bleed it out - Linkin Park: I only picked this one due to the UFC connection.

2.Tick Tick Boom - The Hives: Skipped it because I played it in RB already and it's one of the most overplayed songs ever.

3.Get Free - The Vines: Wasn't as fun as I thought it'd be but it was decent overall.

                          4.Machinehead - Bush: Good times.

5.I Know What I Am - Band of Skulls: Skipped this one so don't know how it plays but listening to it I know I don't like it.

                          6.Again - Flyleaf: See last.

                          7.Lasso - Phoenix: See last.

8.Slow Hands - Interpol: These guys are like a poor version of Placebo. That's better than a lot of stuff though. Still not good.

9.Wish - Nine Inch Nails: I think this was charted backwards but it's pretty awesome.

10.Uprising - Muse: Decent enough. There's a lot of other Muse songs that would've been better.

                          4/10
                          10/19

                          Judy
1.Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen: Kind of odd. Unlike every other time a piano, keyboard or any non-guitar instrument was charted to guitar this has it charted as an actual guitar part instead of the transparent notes. Still rocks. Especially the animation.

2.Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes: Played it in RB already. Played it in this just because I didn't want to play No Way Back again or Losing My Religion.

3.Fascination Street - The Cure: Faaannnnnttttaasssttttiiiiccccc. Hopefully Friday I'm in Love for Band Hero 2.

4.Losing my religion - R.E.M.: As I mentioned I didn't want to play this. Couldn't get one of their good songs like What's the Frequency Kenneth,Man on the Moon or It's the End of the World...? Not only are they better songs, they're better for the game and haven't been in RB.

5.Tones of Home - Blind Melon: I like this song but I didn't like playing it. Glaxie probably would've been better.

6.No way back - Foo Fighters: Didn't like it the demo so skipped it here too. Big Me is the only song of theirs I like.

7.Graduate - Third Eye blind: This was pretty bad to play.

8.Interstate love song - Stone Temple Pilots: Already had it in RB. Played it here anyway.

9.How you remind me - Nickelback: Cheesy as all heck fun is better than no fun.

10.Been caught stealing - Jane's Addiction: Also not as fun as I thought it'd be. At least not on guitar. Didn't try it on bass yet but I suspect that's better. Still good.

                          4/10
                          14/29
Would also like to note I said I thought her transformation looked neat before. It doesn't.

                          Austin
1.Lunatic Fringe - Red Rider: Amazing.

2.Listen to Her Heart - Tom Petty & the Heart Breakers: I didn't play it but it shall get credit anyway because I like the song.

3.Stray Cat Blues - The Rolling Stones: See last.

4.Burnin' for You - Blue Öyster Cult: One of the best in the game. It is however a re-record from 1992/1993.

                          5.Free ride- Edgar Winter: Awesome.

6.Cryin' - Aerosmith: What? Why? Janie is still missing that gun. I didn't play this one.

7.Money for nothing - Dire Straights: Also awesome. Though as previously mentioned I'm not sure what version this is exactly.

8.Keep on Rockin' in the Free World - Neil Young: I think you get kicked out of Canada if you don't like this song. It's a live version I think. I don't remember.

9.Children of the Grave - Black Sabbath: See now this is real metal. Unlike some of the later junk.

                          8/9
                          22/38

At this point is the 2112 chapter. It was really great and how the rest of the story should've been done. It was like a segment from Heavy Metal. I said this story idea was good just poorly executed. Well that doesn't apply to this part because it was executed quite well here and it's very good. If the whole game was as good as/like this then it would've been something special.

                          1/1
23/39 (counting it as one song)

                          Pandora
1.Suffocated - Orianthi: This was pretty fun.

2.I'm Not Okay (I promise) - My Chemical Romance: The lead singer admitted their entire genre sucks. I don't think anything else needs to be said if the band hates their own music.

3.There's No Secrets This Year - Silversun Pickups: Didn't bother. Sounds just as boring as their other song was.

4.Dance, Dance - Fallout Boy: Fun on bass and amusing singer antics make this not so bad so it shall get credit. Didn't like it on guitar though.

5.It's Only Another Parsec... - Rx Bandits: It's only another song I didn't bother with because it sounds awful.

6.The Feel Good Drag - Anberlin: See last. If I wanted this I would've bought it off RBN months ago.

7.The Outsider - A Perfect Circle: This was wonderful. A pleasantry in a pile of rubbish. (I had done Lars' section before this one so it wasn't going very well by the time I got to this.)

8.Savior - Rise Against: Decent. Don't have it in RB. Was saving it for a DLC drought.

9.Bodies - Drowning Pool: Better in RB.

                          4/9
                          27/48

                          Lars
1.Waidmanns Heil - Rammstein: Pretty good. Still think it was an odd choice. Nothing about it made sense over another one of their songs. They charted the horn/trumpet thing at the start.

                          2.I'm broken - Pantera: Great.

3.Dancing Through Sunday - A Fire Inside: Absolutely awful. They used to be a very good punk band, then they became a crappy emo band so now I guess they're a sub-par metal band?

4.Hard to see - Five Finger Death Punch: Didn't bother. Figured it's awful from listening to it/having seen the RB chart. Also would've bought from RBN if I wanted it.

5.Bloodlines - Dethklok: This was entirely awful in the demo so I skipped it.

6.Ravenous - Atreyu: They've got one good song. This isn't it.

7.Pychosocial - Slipknot: I played this mess because Slipknot was decent at one point but this was awful.

8.Ties that bind - Alter Bridge: Good song, poor playing though (on guitar at least) so it doesn't get credit.

9.Calling - Strung Out: One of THE worst songs I had ever played in one of these games. The song is awful and the chart is even worse. Should've played Atreyu instead.

                          10. Paranoid - Ozzy/Metallica: Not only was it already in GH III/RB 1 it was better then too. This version is really bad and no fun to play.

                          2/10
                          29/58
Congrats to this section. It took GH 80's,III,Aerosmith,WT,Metallica,SH,GH 5,BH,Van Halen,DJ Hero,RB 1,RB 2,RB AC/DC,RB Beatles,RB Lego,RB Greenday and Rock Revolution then this but something finally matched the suckyness of the 1/5 section 7 in GH II 18 music games later. (foreshadowing...this was a very short reign) The venue this is in is the next closest thing to normal. It's a stage with a cabin and it's in the middle of a forrest.

                          Casey
                          1.Lovegun - Kiss: It was ok but it's a re-record from 2007.

2.No More Mr. Nice Guy - Alice Cooper: Decent I suppose. Re-record from this year. Wasn't that horrible but I don't think that really sounded like Alice Cooper.

3.Sharp dressed man (Live) - ZZ Top: The only songs left from GH 1 I want to see again are Crossroads and Iron Man. So I skipped this one.

4.Scumbag blues - Them Crooked Vultures: No thanks. Skipped it.

5.Feels like the first time - Foreigner: But it's not because this was in RB already. Skipped it.

6.Aqualung - Jethro Tull: Not as good as RB. Especially without the sing-a-long.

7.Move it over (Live) - George Thurgood & The Destroyers: I liked it. Thought it'd be great but was just good. The one song in the game that does have a sing-a-long.

8.Call me the Breeze - Lynyrd Skynrd: It's ok. Still want Saturday Night Special or Gimme Back My Bullets.

                          9. Renegade (Live) - Styx: Signifcantly less groovy on bass than expected. Ok overall.

                          5/9
                          34/67

                          Axel
1.Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Leppard: Good stuff. The opening is a mess on guitar.

2.Jet city women - Queensrÿche: Also good stuff.

3.Ghost - Slash Ft. Ian Astbury: Didn't like it the demo so skipped it here too.

4.Unskinny Bop - Poison: Solid. Not great but solid.

5.Modern day cowboy - Tesla: This turned out to be a big meh.

6.(You can still) Rock in America - Night Ranger: Skipped it. If it's not Sister Christian I don't care. Already DLed that so I don't care.

7.Burn - Deep Purple: Good stuff here too. Organ solo is pretty crazy on guitar.

8.Indians - Anthrax: Better than expected. I expected a giant unplayable mess but it was decent.

9.Bat Country - A7X: Hate this song, hate this band,it's so over used and awful.

                          5/9
                          39/72

Following this you're required to divide up the 8 rockers and play 2 Megadeth songs. After that you get all 8 powers and play the 3rd of their songs. I won't comment on these just yet as they're included in the next section you unlock for beating these. Though I will say this. There's a classic Simpsons joke in that valentine episode with Ralph and Lisa. Bart is watching them at the Krusty special and he rewinds the tape and says "You can actually pinpoint the exact second his heart breaks." Well with this you can pinpoint the exact second Neversoft got canned. It's called This Day We Fight. The only words I can think of to describe that is disgusting mess. You're required to get 12 stars on these Megadeth songs and I had to play that one 3 times due to poor band power set up and resulting in 11 stars. It's the middle song. Technically Sudden Death is more of a mess but you get all 8 powers so it's not so bad to play through then.

                          Demi-God
Actually I'm gonna do this one a bit differently since there's nothing to C&P anyway.

Holy Wars by Megadeth - This song was ok. I didn't buy it for RB. It was open in quickplay before quest and I played it on bass to get the achievement. It was a mess. Guitar wasn't much better. But overall it's an ok playable mess at least and is a good song overall.

Now these are the other 10 songs in this section...
Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants - The Dillinger Escape Plan
                          Speeding by Steve Vai
Black Widow of La Porte by John 5
Fury of the Storm by Dragonforce
                          Nemesis by Arch Enemy
                          Deadfall by Snot
If You Want Peace...Prepare for War by Children of Bodom
                          Chemical Warfare by Slayer
This Day We Fight by Megadeth
                          Sudden Death by Megadeth

I said Lars' section had a short reign. Well here's why.
I haven't seen a bigger collection of crap in a videogame since the Great Mighty Poo in Conker's Bad Fur Day. I saw a comment a Neversoft employee stating since it was their last game anyway they purposely over-charted Fury of the Storm. I don't think that's what happend. I think after Neversoft was fired for This Day We Fight small children were brought in and told to finger paint and those are the charts they tossed in the game. These songs are all awful and the charts are worse than even the mess GH III was. Not a single one of these 10 are fun or have any redeeming quality and is easily the worst section of songs in a game ever. It's a bunch of random flailing and simply terrible. Thankfully you only have to suffer through 8 of these 10 once because at this point you have the all power guitar and won't have to do them over if you get 40 stars. The other 2 are the Megadeth songs. You're also free to switch instruments but it appears bass isn't any better for most and I don't play drums much or higher than medium. Vox might be all or mostly talkies for these so regardless of your main instrument you should probably switch over to vox for these so you don't have to deal with these giant messes.

                          1/11
                          40/83

I guess some songs are missing from quest? Even counting 2112 as one that should be 86. Might've missed something in the list. I can't think of what's possibly missing though. I am bad at math so might've mis-added somewhere.

goh, can you create real looking band mates like in Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero? I found that to be huge in my enjoyment of GH5 having a realistic looking band to play the songs with out of the career mode. Are you stuck with the goofy looking characters at all times?

Yes. If you can make it in GH 5/BH you can here. Well the BH outfits are gone but everything else is there. You can start with a better choice of pre-mades and work from there too.

The whacky stuff is towards the bottom of the list like the blue, undead and firey options for the faces. I'm pretty sure my singer could pass for Lenny Kravitz or the singer from Sevendust. The whacky quest outfits have to be unlocked.

Cool, thanks. I'll Gamefly this for sure and then just buy it when it's cheaper just due to the Metallica exporting of songs and having everything in one game.
