Hope they'll just shuffle out whatever songs they have left as DLC.

In unrelated news a cuss word beginning with s was left uncensored in one of the Marylin Manson songs.

To paraphrase an apocryphal Iggy Pop quote, Guitar Hero was already dead - Activision just threw dirt on the grave today.

Although they were also the ones that murdered it, so there's that...

The genre murdered it and over did it.

I could care less about Guitar Hero but losing DJ Hero really stinks. I have gotten a lot of play out of DJ Hero 1 and 2.

Well they've decided there WILL be more DLC.

I'm hoping we can get some of the old places to play for DLC. Like Club La Noza from Band Hero and the burning man thing from GH III. A lot of songs don't fit in these GH 6 places and since it's the last bringing back some of the old ones would be nice. Playing a Sublime song in these places is just wrong.

                      ...at least until GH 7...

In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz today, Activision VP of developer relations and acquisitions Dan Winters clarified his company's current stance on the Guitar Hero franchise, saying that the publisher isn't counting out a reunion tour.

"Actually, just to clarify, we're just putting Guitar Hero on hiatus; we're not ending it," Winters said. "We're releasing products out of the vault. We'll continue to sustain the channel; the brand won't go away. We're just not making a new one for next year; that's all."

Activision has previously stated that it does not intend to release a new installment in the Guitar Hero franchise in 2011, and it was not immediately clear whether Winters' statement also ruled out a new installment in 2012. Activision had not responded to a request for comment as of press time.
Activision confirms future plans to return to once-mighty rhythm-game franchise, status of possible 2012 game in question.

                        Interesting that GH isn't dead.

That said, the genre definitely needs some innovation, and this series in particular needs it in the worst way. If and when there is a GH7, I hope it brings something new and interesting to the table.
