Electronic Arts today announced Mercs Inc, which is said to be the first Pandemic game developed by the studio's new location in Playa Vista, California.
For now, EA isn't providing many details. None at all, in fact. The publisher won't confirm what platforms this title will appear on or a ship date, only saying its in "early stages of development." EA, meanwhile, remains enthusiastic about the Pandemic franchise despite shuttering most of the studio earlier this month.
"We are very excited to announce a new installment in the popular Mercenaries series because it demonstrates our continued commitment to Pandemic's rich catalog of intellectual properties," said Nick Earl, Senior VP and Group General Manager at EA. "From the studio at EALA, a core creative team is forging new ground and conceptualizing new ideas for this exciting franchise."
A pitch video demo for the project was discovered by superannuation yesterday, which is probably why this announcement was made. Right now, it appears Mercs Inc will focus heavily on cooperative play.
Check the video below for a quick look, but keep in mind this is not in anyway final.
