Too Human- It was announced the same time as Mass Effect and I thought that both would be good games but it took way too long for it to come out and when it did, it was repetitive and the graphics sucked.

Far Cry 2- The graphics engine was great and really the main reason I bought the game but like Too Human, it got way too repetitive

NFL exclusivity

Dreamcast dying early

No Jade Empire 2

Developers forcing multiplayer in games where it doesn't belong along with the constant complaints about games that don't have multiplayer

Starbreeze not making The Darkness 2

GTA4...suck...

I'd say the biggest disappointment of the gaming decade would be next-gen sports games. Outside of a few exceptions(Hoops 2k8, UFC, etc.) next-gen sports gaming has been a big disappointment, IMO.

Agreed. I have given up on them at this point. The NCAA series went downhill with 2005 and has never really recovered to the greatness that was NCAA 2004.

Madden on next gen has been atrocious overall.

For disappointments here we go:

console: RRoD, PS3's being $600 at launch.

games: EA Basketball, the NFL exclusivity contract, Neversoft produced Guitar Hero games, the original Saints Row (however Saints Row 2 was great).

EDIT:unless you're referring only to silent hill 4 or homecoming...or that one that was on psp, then you're correct.

Well the 2000's really became the Decade of the Big Video game Companies. In the 90's there were scores of Video game companies, each carving out its niche in the video game community. But the 2000's came along, the EA's and the Activisions of the world came in and bought these companies up and more often than not, they simplified the game to reach a broader audience and it usually failed.

So today we have a limited number of gaming companies, that no longer push the envelope. Everything we get has to appeal to a large audience so gone are the days of Sim City, Civilization, Flight Simulators, etc etc.

This is easily the biggest Disappointment imo, I still play Civilization 4 and Sim City4, both are about 5 years old and are still fun to this day.Civ 4 was a intellectual game that actually required intelligence to play it, then i caught a whiff of the future when they ported Civ to the consoles.Truly Original games are gone folks, I hope you do not mind playing Call of Duty 11 in 10 years.

First title that came to mind is GTA IV. Not that it wasn't fun or a well developed, technically superior game...it just didn't have "it", like San Andreas or Vice City did. I still finished it and have the expansions, I just didn't LOVE it.
