Re: Surround Sound Xbox Setup help?!?

Depends on how good your stuff is. I have a Harman Kardon receiver and have BOTH my AV Component cables and my digital optical cable going into my receiver. Then i have component cables going from the OUT on my receiver to my TV.
Dolby 5.1 sound is INSANELY better than just regular sound.

I have 450 watt speakers from sony and have been using the 400x gamelink with a digital optic cable to hook into my reciever for 5.1 sound.....THere is absolutly no difference. I was playing halo with everything hooked up(listening to the menu screen with the chanting) and then i unplugged my digital optic cable from my reciever. It sounded exacltty the same. I then plugged it back in and it sounded no different. Also my monser cable adds so many more jaggies Im gonna take it bakc.

            thanks

thanks for everyon's input- I picked up the advanced av and an optical cord tonight and got it all set up. (xbox video to TV, optical audio to my Kenwood 500 watt receiver system)

The diff is amazing, played some WSB2k3, Fever 2003, NHL2k3 and all sound incredible.

Now I just need my NCAA to arrive tomorrow from gamestop!!!!

I thought the gamelink 400x has analog audio? If you do have a digital optical, that jack needs to be turned on , on your recevier, just plugging it in won't do anything. Also leave your other audio cables (red and white plugs) un plugged.

Also, do you have 2 surrounds, 2 front speakers and a center channel?
